What are your thoughts on the five day photography bundle deal that they run once a year for $98
It's a real deal, if you use it. I got "suckered" in a couple of years ago. For me, I didn't get 2 cents use out of it. Entirely my fault!
I see the actual value is $2,200. If it was worth $2,500, I might go for it.
Yes, most of that info is available for free on YouTube. Getting a "course" presents the instruction in an orderly fashion. I didn't read the whole ad, but you want to make sure you can download the videos - or record them off your computer, and you should get PDFs, too. I have paid for some courses that were "originally" $98, but they were offered for $19.99, something like that.
The most important thing: a no questions asked money-back guarantee.

Yes, I know what you mean. If you don't use a course or a device, it isn't worth the money, but that's up to the buyer. It's like school. Some kids leave and go to Harvard. Others leave and go to McDonalds.
Can you post a link to that so we can read more about it? I was tempted by a course (I forget what the subject was), and it turned out that most of the "resources" were links to other sites.
If you're going to look on YouTube, look carefully and stick with an instructor you like, rather than skipping around. I'm signed up with over 400 channels on YT in all different subject areas. I add them and drop them as time goes by. Some people mumble or talk too fast. Others just ramble. I clicked on one guy last night who had a bright light right behind him - and he was mumbling.
If you pick a good instructor and stick with him, you'll learn something.
Linda, Thank you for your extremely helpful post regarding bundled photo programs. You are right on both counts. Much is available online with YouTube and other places. And I loved your suggestion about giving to our "favorite charity" instead. PICTURE PERFECT!! Art

The other thing that, so far, has been useless for me has been presets. Never work out so I always end up doing a custom job. Or minimally do similar pics together after getting in the general area of how I want to edit a shot.
Names like, “autumn dawn” mean nothing to me.
Also I suggest associating with a good camera club. Often they have excellent classes for free.
Presets are great for quickly getting you there at which point you fine tune them.

Not for me. I find the “auto” feature the best place to start then go from there. Or I just make my own for the circumstance…say a day at the beach where exposures are similar, and use that as a starting point. If purchased presets work for you then great. Maybe I haven’t quite figured out how to properly use them.
Yes, there is a lot available on YouTube. Some of my bookmarks below.

Thanks! If I'm giving away money, or throwing it away, I prefer to choose the recipient

Like an idiot I bought this package last year, and haven’t even looked at it.
As folks are saying, there’s plenty of free stuff out there to watch and learn from.

Presets are another tool in the tool box. Some people find them to be useful.
My issue with using purchased presets is that your photos can take on the style of the person who created those presets and also everyone else who uses those presets. So your photos look like (insert name) photos.
Now creating your own presets is a different thing. For example you always find yourself doing x, y, and z on each photo of a certain type, you can make a preset to do that.
