A days worth of photos disappeared from my SD card. I am hoping that they are still actually there and can be retrieved. Can anyone suggest where the card can be taken or sent to try to save them?

Once you find those files (or not) I would chuck that card. I would never trust it again.

Yes, the camera did record the photos but then later they disappeared. I removed the card and have not done anything to it. I will give the programs a try. Thanks.

I have had great success with "Recuva"

I've used a program called Recuva successfully several times. It's a free download. Can be located with Google.

Suggestions for the future.

At the first sign of any trouble with a SD card/similar or a computer drive, stop whatever else and back up that card/drive immediately. If you have a second bad experience, stop using that card/drive and have it checked by the "pros" or sent to a place that can verify if your storage is safe to use.... Or throw it away and replace it ASAP.

And for your most important images (or all of them), always have your images stored on at least 2 different drives or forms. I still use CD/DVDs for a second backup of all important images. - You can't risk the possibility that your images, this part of your life, could suddenly be lost!

Another vote for Recuva

https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva

If the initial scan doesn't work, then try the deep scan mode. Just follow the built-in wizard 's guide.

This is the best advice. Don’t try anything else. It leads to complications. Good luck

Playing with the card as some have suggested is simply foolish. Get and run a file recovery program ASAP. I've successfully used RescuePRO from SanDisk.

Did the camera record the photos to begin with? I'm assuming yes. Do NOT continue to use the card and do not reformat it. Check out this link to see if any of these products can help. Others who have faced this (I have not except with a phone around 10 years ago.) may have specific suggestions.

I agree totally with this post. DO NOT USE THIS CARD UNTIL YOU HAVE THE CORRECT RECOVER PROGRAM IN PLACE
