We boarded the tour bus for our drive along the Vietnamese coast to Da Nang and saw some fascinating scenes of life in Vietnam. All were taken through the tour bus windows with the exception of the leading lady. We did make a "pit stop" after about an hour south of Hue and got a chance to explore a local market. More from the market in my next post. All were taken with a 5-megapixel Canon Powershot S60 and processed with Luminar Neo.

Thanks so much Tom. We've been grounded for the last 3 years but we hope to be back "on the road" next spring - God willing!

reminds me of Chaing Mai. I lived there for a year.

I just had a high school friend, a few months back, just sold everything and moved to Saigon, after a couple months vacation there. Says he can live like a king on $800/mo. He actually contacted me to ask me to go with him. I could maybe in the sixties, but I doubt it now.

Thanks for posting.

Life looks to be pretty basic there. They are experts at balancing loads on bicycles and heads.

Thanks very much Barbara. It was mind blowing to see how much stuff they could get on those old bicycles which was one of the ways the North Vietnamese Army resupplied their troops during the war.

Great set, Mark. I was lucky not to have been sent to Nam in 1970. I would love to visit now, though.

I'll be watching for them. When I was there in 68-69, it was starting to boom. There was only a two lane road around the city. There is now a 6 lane freeway in it's place. My granddaughter just went for a week with her boyfriend. I have her the address where I lived and she could not find it with explicit directions. I look at Google maps and it is still a housing area, but probably different. I Loved it there. I have been to a lot of places, none as beautiful in my eyes.

Thanks very much Ken. I was one of the lucky ones as well. I had a Berry Plan deferment to finish my residency which ended in 1974 after we were out of the war. It was really a great trip and I imagine built up much more since our trip in 2007.
