Very nice. I took a drive along Skyline Drive yesterday here in Virginia and the color is nowhere near what you are seeing down there.

So.... I have never been one to be overly patient and the anticipation of Fall colors has gotten me pretty excited. This AM I drove up to the parkway to see how things are coming along. It is starting but it is not here just yet. On the way home I stopped off at a roadside waterfall that I usually just pass by..... The falls turned out to be the best part of the trip.

The photos with the Fall colors were shot at pretty high altitudes on the Parkway and are not representative of how most of the Parkway is looking right now. I also pushed the color a bit in post. Fall is just getting underway up there, next week will be better and I am not sure that it won't peak until after that.

Beautiful images.

Nice shots all. Do you have any with the water flowing naturally, sans the cotton candy look?

No, and I know that many people would prefer those type of shots, I happen to love silky water, when you go down to these falls you are crossing rocks and often creeks, sometimes working while standing in water so I setup the camera prior to entering a trail and don't remove expensive filters that may become damaged it not properly handled. The filters I use reviewed very well but the only knock on them is that they are easily scratched so I try to be overly cautious with them.

Great images of a beautiful area. Keep them coming as we move into fall! Does the waterfall have a name?

I think that it still pretty much is, but it depends on your elevation. I plan on spending time on the parkway and nearby areas the first two weeks of October, all above 4000 feet, then move down into the elevations where I live, 3000+ feet, and finish in South Carolina and Georgia in late October and early November.

Great pictures!! We live near the Parkway in Yancey Co. What is the name of those falls? I don't think I've ever seen
those.
