Great action set Gary! The puddle jumper and scooter girl my favorites. Really like the dog chase too.

Many thanks to Bill for pinch hitting for Larry on Free Sunday. Great job, Bill. And also thanks to those who are taking on hosting for the October Challenges. It is very much appreciated.

Many of you know how to stop action and suspend water, people, birds etc. in mid air. The skills are a must for sports photographers, birds in flight - and wiggly children. The major settings involved are those of the exposure triangle: ISO, shutter speed and your aperture. High enough ISO, wide enough aperture and shutter speeds of 1/1000 or higher until your subject "freezes". It might be helpful if you included your Aperture, ISO, and shutter speed with your post - something I neglected to do when preparing for this challenge.

So, STOP the action and SHOW us your image and SETTINGS if you can.

Some birds for today. I've been working on BIF for a while now....sometimes they're better, sometimes a fizzle... On these I don't think I had the shutter speed fast enough.

Male Rose Breasted Grossbeaks ISO 800, f5.6 , 1/500

Most of my stop action shots are of birds. I spend the summer trying to get just the right hummingbird shot and the winter trying to get just the right goose and crane shots.

I was in the woods trying to get a picture of my office managers three grandkids. Suddenly there was a rapid thumping on the ground and the sound of breaking branches. I was able to get this shot before I had to turn and run myself. She only has two grandsons now.

Thanks Photoshop! 😂😂
