Have always wondered?

Growing up I was kind of like the Beav. I always had a ball cap on my head. Mostly because if I wasn't in school I would be playing ball as much as possible. If we didn't have enough to play a game we'd hit fly balls to one another. I'd count how many I caught over a summer. This is one reason why we had such good teams in our summer league. Jeans, t-shirt, and a ball cap. That was me until the 7th grade.

Wearing a baseball hat backwards during a game is also known as putting on a rally cap.

Back in the day, it was my job to keep them out of it, while my great-grandmother cooked the rest of supper.

The dough had to be left out to rise and the darned chickens would try to get at it, because it was sweet.

Yes, this was over fifty years ago, in the country, in the South, with no air conditioning on the family farm, so all the windows and doors stayed open, giving the animals free run of the house, if you let them. (Chickens were too stupid to stay out.)

(By the way, "Granny" always followed with "Ain't my dog".)

I raised an orphan chick once. When Pee Dee got feathered out he would roost on top of dad’s coffee thermos on the table. That wasn’t a problem until he pooped in the sugar bowl. Apparently dad didn’t like lumps in the sugar.

+1

I wear my cap sideways when I'm in the truck and the sun is on my left. The right window is usually dirty enough that the sun presents no problem.

Maybe because traditionally they lined up and removed their caps for the National Anthem before games.

I guess that would work. I’ve never paid that much attention😂

Buy a Tilley hat and that problem will be solved. You might never wear a baseball hat again.

I figure the only people who are entitled to where their hats backwards are photographers and welders (to keep sparks or slag from going down their back, been there done that, ouch!). And no, key hole peeping toms are not entitled to either.

Can't forget the baseball catcher who wears it backwards so he/she can wear a protective mask over the face.

👍👍 Absolutely correct - wouldn’t be without mine to cover my bald head.

The reason a photographer will wear a baseball cap backwards is that wearing it 'properly' creates a problem with the brim getting in the way of putting your eye on the viewfinder. A 'Sherlock Holmes' hat doubles that problem (but you could still wear it sideways). There is no orientation of a Tilley hat that solves the problem (other than taking it off your head).

And I agree that hats do not cause baldness. Baldness causes hats.

I remember that too😂 They’ve been wearing helmets without brims for a long time.

Actually, ANY orientation of a Tilley hat solves that problem, as the brim is so soft, all you have to do is push it up out of the way with your camera.

Works that way with mine, anyway.
