Nice, guys.

More trivia from Dixie:

It's "peckin' at dough", not "picking out dough".

Actually, ANY orientation of a Tilley hat solves that problem, as the brim is so soft, all you have to do is push it up out of the way with your camera.

Works that way with mine, anyway.

Me too - just turn up the brim.

Maybe because traditionally they lined up and removed their caps for the National Anthem before games.

After leaving the military, I never wanted to wear another ball hat in either direction Now a Tilley hat is a different matter. Wish I’d had the good sense to wear one all those years sailing - might have prevented all those skin cancers on my (now) mostly bald head.

I haven’t owned one for years but Tilley hats used to come with a pocket under the crown. The Tilley folks felt losing your hat would be so traumatic that they suggested enclosing a note with your name and address along with some cash to cover postage so the finder could return it.

They still have it, and since they aren’t cheap (~$90), makes sense (sorta), assuming someone knows to look under the cover. One thing I found out the hard way - don’t put one in a washing machine on regular cycle - wrecked my last one.

I have never been one to follow fashion. It seems to me, something like a Tilley hat would cost some serious coin. I have always been a pragmatist. Baseball caps are ubiquitous and inexpensive (unless you want a stylish one). You can frequently get a freebie if you play your cards right. I always got a free hat every time I bought another tractor. Trade shows sometimes give out hats for advertising.

The purpose of a hat is (1) keeps the sun out of your eyes; (2) keeps the rain off your glasses; (3) covers a bald spot and provides some insulation in winter; (4) a place to hold small objects that your pockets no longer have room for (or will fall through the holes); (5) a place to hold small parts when you're working on something out in the tall grass; (6) a container to carry small amounts of stuff that won't fit in your hands (although most hats are somewhat porous, so liquids with low viscosity are excluded from this usage)

You have thought of uses for hats that never occurred to me Tilley hats are expensive, but they’re not a fashion statement - lacking beating one up in a washer, they last forever (and are guaranteed by the Canadian company that makes them for life I believe). And if you’re a sailer/boater, they not only have a chin strap that will disappear into the inner pocket when not needed, they float. I’ve had mine, worn daily, for a good 20 years.

Ouch! At today’s prices that’s an expensive lesson😳

Nobody asked my opinion....but....I don't think a baseball hat worn backwards is macho at all! I think it looks anything but intelligent. Tacky even. I think Aussie hats and certain kinds of cowboy hats are macho and even more macho if wearing a short, neatly trimmed beard!!!

WHY???, do people wear baseball hats on backwards??? What could be the reason?, other than looking macho!
Don't these people, (mostly young folks) know that wearing the stupid looking backward baseball hat all the time causes premature baldness! Just wondering, wondering about a lot of things lately, must be the times, malvin

I wear a hat werever which way it feels comfortable so that doesn't bother me.
What I could not fathom are folks who wear hat & sunglasses indoors.

As for hats indoors: church, restaurants, historic sites…no hats
supermarkets, fast food places…hats are ok
It depends on the location

I agree about the sunglasses but I’ve had occasional eye problems that require them all the time so I’ll cut people some slack
