More unadulterated B.S. This is the sort of rubbish that costs lives of those uninformed enough to believe it - lives needlessly wasted believing clueless politicians and fools.

Shame.

I'm aware of the stats which don't bear on the fact that the OP falsely presented what looks like some dubious claims.

How about the stats on the damage done to the children’s education by the overreaction to the pandemic? Not to mention the devastation to the economy.

There are lots of more serious issues where we should be directing our attention.

If a claim seems to be dubious it may depend on who is listening.

Not the topic of the thread -- start a new thread if you want to talk about it.

The OP said, "One more shoe drop...many many more to come unfortunately." That opens the floor to all of the other dropping shoes on both sides, past and future.

Unfortunately, it became politicized even before Biden's election. Blue states imposed Draconian mandates and red states countered with a less restrictive approach getting schools and businesses opened much sooner.

But keeping in mind that the population of California is almost 2x the population of Florida, the two totally different approaches produced almost the same result. Both states ended up in the same place as of last week, 0.75 deaths per 100,000 for the week ending 9/10:

I see a very different result to this point. And yes, definitely a red state blue state thing going on there.

That's pretty much the same thing I am seeing for totals starting from the beginning.

But there is a lot more to it than politics. Geography, climate, population density and distribution, ethnic mix and even employment rates all influence the rates.

I am more interested in what is coming. Recent experience is a better predictor. Here is an interesting comparison for the US:

Harvard study... https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4206070

So far... they have found...

1.) For every one COVID hospitalization prevented in previously uninfected young adults...
“18 to 98 actual serious adverse events” have been caused.

2.) Covid-19 vaccine mandates are likely to cause net expected harms to young healthy adults—between 18 and 98 serious adverse events requiring hospitalisation and 1373 to 3234 disruptions of daily activities—that is not outweighed by a proportionate public health benefit.

Just the beginning folks...this was all rushed to market...and the butchers bill for that has not been presented fully...yet.
One more shoe drop...many many more to come unfort... (show quote)

The bill for the Bull you mean.! What a load of&#^#.

So rather than ending up in the same place, Ron DeSantis and the people of Florida chose to accept a much higher total death toll from covid than did Gavin Newsom and the people of California. DeSantis and the people of Florida had the stats for what they were doing and what the result would be. They got what they chose. They're the 14th worst state out of 50 while California is the 14th best state out of 50.

You are overlooking that Florida has a much higher proportion of elderly residents.

People would rather come to Florida to die than to go to California to live. That's why they are moving here and leaving California.

Florida is growing, California is shrinking.

That does not alone explain the difference. And it's just all the more damming -- knowing they had a higher proportion of elderly Florida could have chosen to try and protect them. They didn't.

DeSantis is doing a much better job than Newson whose parents just moved from California to Naples.

He’s also doing a much better job on education, public safety, immigration and economic growth.

But now you are really going off topic. If you want to get into politics, take it to the attic.

I was talking about covid. You're the one who made the Florida/California comparison saying they came to the same place. They didn't. Now you're the one bringing up politics.

I'm sorry if my vocabulary bothers you...anything else...of substance?

Not sure of your position...you stated...' You believe what you are told based on prejudice and in some cases a partisan political belief.'.

That's my entire point. Though bias is the more correct term...back to vocabulary again.

We all have bias...all of us...and we use it all the time.

Exactly why when big issues come up...step back...listen to the words...but follow the money and the action.
If the words betray the other two...there is a problem.

That happened exactly with Covid.

Lest we forget...this was an issue that was weaponized and tied to elections globally.

You better believe there was tons of misinformation going around, and anyone who questioned the narrative was destroyed.

Indications of a problem...if one can put aside the bias and think objectively.

Get used to this sort of data coming out...
I'm sorry if my vocabulary bothers you...anything ... (show quote)

There was certainly loads of misinformation going round and most of it from people like you.
