Of course it will never be the same with Charles, as our Queen was one of the most iconic figures ever. Certainly some people feel no affection for Charles, but the hundreds of thousands that turned out to greet him yesterday, with not a single anti-Royal in sight, tells its own story.
The actions of the King when he arrived at Buckingham Palace yesterday afternoon when he stopped to speak for a long time to so many people gathered to greet him (even allowing one lady to kiss him) was perhaps a little unexpected and certainly very impressive. His incredibly emotional address to the people last night was also impressive. He made it so clear that as our Monarch he must function in a very different way to that as the heir to the throne.
He will never replace his mother, but I have high hopes for a successful reign. I’m certainly far happier for our country to have a Royal family than not. God Save The King.

The Queens passing is symbolic as the capstone to the British Empire.
History will mark her passing as such.
All of us are living in the wake of the B.E. in one way or another.
Quite a bit of global conflict today is a result of the collapse...retraction if you prefer.
No different from the Roman Empire falling...or any other.
There is chaos for a few centuries...things are not run as well...folks get the feeling they have missed something which was better...and they have.
The B.E. brought law...order...architecture...engineering...infrastructure...a cohesiveness...and in the end...left every place they ruled...better off than they found it.
There are a few exceptions of course...
But on the whole...
As empires go...
The British Empire was benevolent for the world.
The end capstone has finally been laid down on its reign.
Queen Elizabeth is a fine capstone...she helped guide and write the final chapter.
It's difficult to measure the immense feats the British people performed.
We are talking about a country the size of Alabama...running the world for centuries...and running it pretty dang well.
History will mark her passing as such.
