They did, the FTZ mount fits on all your F lenses and you then Mount them on all Z bodies.
With all the changes to the F mount over the years they do not work with various F mount bodies so you have the same issue anyway and need a score card to know what works with what.

Apparently Canon doesn't agree with you either. Best of luck.

I need no luck from Canon. Canon doesn't need to agree with me, just with potential buyers .

Whatever Canon chooses to do or not do, doesn't effect me in any way. After over 40 years shooting Canon, I have moved on from them.

Cheers and best of luck to you

It makes no sense to make a mirrorless in the F mount. Oh well Sony did it with their SLT and you see how sucessful they are in that line.

I have been shooting Canon cameras since the AE1. I am not a professional and have been brand loyal. This past week Canon told Vitrox to quit making RF lenses and Tamron has made the decision to not make any RF lenses and I suspect that Sigma will follow suit. In my opinion, this is Canon creating a monopoly. I don't like being told what I can and can buy. I have the EOS R and was waiting for the EOS R update. One reason I stayed with Canon is that I love the articulating screen. I don't want to give this up. What other cameras also have fully articulating screens?

Been shooting Nikon since 1982 and will never switch.

The SLT wasn't mirrorless, just used a different mirror. The Pentax K-01 was using a SLR mount on a mirrorless, and not surprisingly didn't gain from it.

[quote=stevemdr]"In regards to Canon, I've done the same thing. I'm selling off my Canon R7 with the 18-150mm lens because the existing RF lenses are either cheaply made or too expensive. There's nothing in the middle."

Exactly, for RF lenses either you get the cheap kit lenses, or pay a premium for the best RF lenses
. The middle and top end is where great third-party RF glass would shine, as they do for other brand cameras.

Nothing we say here will change Canon's business model and philosophy to NOT open up the RF mount. But they will lose some sales because of their stance. Using adaptors with DSLR-designed lenses isn't the answer for all potential Canon R users.

Cheers and best to you.

The mirror in the SLT was only for AF. The SLT has EVF and the viewing image fed from the imaging sensor. It's very much a mirrorless. It's far from the old SLR with a pelix non moving mirror.

If you think all the camera brands are the same, you own the wrong brand.

In this case the OP loves Canon but a little upset because he thinks Canon screwed him. Perhaps if we wait 30 years and in 20/20 hind sight we recognize that this is Canon best move.

So Canon spends a ton of money doing research and development for its new R cameras including top of the line auto focus and AI to find and track the subject eyes, and instead of recouping the cost through the sale of these new lens, they are supposed to let Tameron, Sigma, etc. make the sales. Could the reason that these brands can sell the lens cheaper is that they don't have the cost of development that they have to recoup.

You'll be waiting quite a while before that never happens my friend. The Z mount lenses are absolutely mind-blowing. The 50/1.2 and the 400/2.8 TC are just two available today that meet that condition. Best of luck!
