Love shot #3.

Thanks, I was pleased it came out given the distance involved.

Wonderful eagle shots, Mike. Number three is classic, and my favorite of the series, and they’re all great catches. I like #3 because while the eagle is still the subject that draws your eyes to it, it doesn’t dominate the picture, but rather fits into its environment, yet the environment isn’t distracting. And it’s very sharp. A definite wall hanger.

Excellent shots of one of my favorite subjects, Mike! The 200-600 x 1.4 is quite some reach! Handheld?

Thanks, Ronnie. It was handheld in a zodiac, thus the 1/3200 shutter speed.

Mike, the 4th photo is breathtaking, so majestic. Incredible photo set and Alaska is on my bucket list.

Rick

Thanks, Rick, Alaska gives you so many eagle opportunities that you have to pick your best shots to post. Alaska should be high on your bucket list.

Thanks, Greg. I had many eagle photo ops, but the background in Misty Fjord was excellent.

You cannot go to Alaska and come home without eagle shots. Although it seemed that every other light pole in Juneau had its own eagle, I resolved to get "real" eagle shots. That's when I found out that the "good" shots came from a rocking zodiac at a distance. I must acknowledge that Sony cameras and lenses that let me get these shots in tough conditions.

The eagle in the first two shots looks bedraggled because it is raining. The two eagles in the last four shots were a long distance away, but my 200-600 with a 1.4tc did the job.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Iconic images of Alaska, Mike. Great camera adjustments from a rocking zodiac. The third and fourth shots really capture the majesty of the eagle and its lofty environment.

Mike, you cannot get this stuff without having some decent knowledge of your gear. With that said, you have proven once again that the real magic happens about 6 inches behind the camera.

Thanks, Bubba, I really appreciate your comments. It seems to me that in the past someone did instruct me about being ready with camera settings.
