Last town I lived in we had a neighbor who lived to 103. They made her give up her drivers license after she ran over the police chief’s foot.

I'm 73 and doing very well for that age. Many people who knew me during my wild 20's and 30's lost bets that I wouldn't make it to 50 because of my lifestyle. I gradually stopped most of my bad habits by the time I was that age except alcohol. I've been a daily drinker since before my legal age and still polish off 3 to 6 drinks a day, although I gave up the hard stuff about 7 years ago and now have a couple of beers and a few glasses of red wine each day.

My father passed away at 76 but my mother and almost every one from her side of the family lived to be mid to late 90's. I'm hoping I got most of my genes from her! I have a brother who is 78 and a survivor of pancreatic cancer, but he and every other family member are/were devout Christians who never drank, smoked, or did any illicit substances. The old genes vs lifestyle question may end up having some bearing on my longevity.

Just turned 92. My mother made to 93 as did her grandmother; my father passed at almost 80, but his father made it to 91, and his grandmother, who was born in 1842, to 95. So they all beat the odds of their eras.

I shot a 77 once.
But it was for nine holes, LOL!

Being over 90 I get to play golf for free in my seniors league, but I don’t keep score and don’t try to hit over the water. When my hip really bothers me I just drive the cart between holes and throw my ball on the green and putt.

Numbers -- Numbers, I am lucky enough to be 82, my dog Howard and I walk 3 - 5 miles a day still shooting pictures (me, not Howard) and still camping. I fully realize that something will get me sooner or later, but till it does I will keep on - keeping on.

For those of you who are into numbers, the goal is 120!! I suggest the following program. Get up every morning. Have breakfast. Take your assigned pills, shots or whatever. Read the following sections of the newspaper...sports, comics, travel and want ads. Do not read the front page, editorial page, or advice to the lovelorn. If you want to watch some TV, skip the news, concentrate on the soaps and cartoons. Avoid hospital shows, cop shows and "help" shows. Concentrate on cooking shows!! Photograph flowers, shrubs, trees, the sun, clouds and people each day. Cull each days photography so that by the end of each week you have some really good shots. at the end of the month, cull again. At the end of the year, cull again. Do this each year for the next 40 years and you will live a long life!!

78 too, and as my son likes to remind me, "still on the right side of the dirt."

Everyone wants to go to heaven, but few if any want to make the trip. A recent birthday greeting showed a close up of a dogs nose, the caption on the the inside read, "I smell old people." Now that was funny. And by the way, having read five pages of comments on this subject, my comment is "I smell old people."
