does the light in the bottom left corner detract from the image

certainly could. there are element about all 3 that i like, i just have to decide what the final product is going to look like

I did a vertical flip and then cropped it to make the reflected image of the mountain centered in an interesting frame... an image within an image, photo.

Since this is a picture with a lot of symmetry, I would not change a thing from the original. The reflection is symmetrical with the sky. The upper right is symmetrical to the lower left. Balanced across 2 different lines.

I think the light area in the bottom corner actually gives the composition a better overall light/dark balance. There's nothing specific within that area which distracts.
