An outstanding set of shots Chief. Love the alligator shots but that seems a little close for me. I remember shooting dragons in Costa Rica and having to keep one eye out for the crocks.

Gray Headed Swamp Hen. We've been wondering when they would finally show up. First time we have seen then with chicks. They look like the Purple Gallinules at first glance, but much bigger, different feet and different head.

Thanks, Doc. Yes, really close! She (?) was down below the road grade, but right next to the road so about two feet horizontally and three feet vertically. We were in the truck and heard her hiss. My wife grabbed the camera and zoomed out to 200mm and took a couple quick shots. We didn't want to disturb her any more than we already had done so we drove away immediately afterward.
I've always wanted to go to Costa Rica, for birds, but with a new interest in Dragons, I guess it will be a twofer if and when I get there
