Works for me.....costs is not bad at all. $339 to cover $19000 of equipment camera, bags, flash units, filters batteries/chargers, etc. Everything I could think of, used it twice already and it has paid for itself for a few years already.
You need a copy of the sales receipt for every item you wish to have the insurance to cover.

I also use a State Farm rider. Changes are easy to make. So far, I have not had a claim so I can't comment of claim service.

Within two months of getting the State Farm personal articles policy about 6 years ago, my wife and I were touring a schnapps distillery in Germany. The owner/hostess was passing out samples, which she was serving out of a basket carrier. As she got to me, I placed my Canon G16 face up in my lap. She leaned over to offer me the sample and another in the basket tipped and schnapps poured directly into the lens protective leaf cover. Then, to make matters worse, she instinctively reached down with a damp cloth to wipe it out. My brain to hands reaction was too slow. The camera was retired for the rest of the trip. When home I called Canon to get a feel for repair cost. The estimate ranged from $200-$300 depending on internal damage. I then called State Farm to see what I had to do. The agent immediately authorized a $300 award and the money was in my credit union account within a week. He didn’t require a formal estimate. I shipped the G16 to Canon and the repair final cost was $250. I called SF to report the lower cost and the agent simply said something like, “we’re good, enjoy your camera.” Of the approx $12000, I had insured at the time, the G16 was the only point and shoot on the policy, and only because it was a favorite travel camera. Even though I still have it, it’s been replaced by a G1x iii for vacations.

Remember that IF you have a claim on your home owners insurance you open up the homes policy for an increase to the yearly policy cost vs. an add on policy for just the cameras and lenses.

You could join Professional Photographers of America. The membership includes equipment insurance.

Thanks.

Get a membership to the professional photographers association and it includes a fairly decent insurance policy on your equipment at no extra cost.
That's the whole reason I am a member.

All insurance, even riders are expensive. Typically a home owner's policy will only cover about 1500 for photo equipment in case of fire, flood, or theft. The thing to remember is this -- you may have 20,000.00 in equipment but you will not have all your equipment with you at one time. Think of the most you would have out with you at one time and buy insurance for that amount, not your whole inventory.

I don't think that is how the rider insurance works. You don't pick an amount you want to pay or insure. You have to list the ca.mera's, lenses, extras all with serial numbers and receipts for your stuff
