Did you mean to type Z6?
The last time I checked the professional D6 had a rapidly flapping mirror.
Resurrecting a term from 100 years ago, they could have called it the Nikon Flapper. It would be rather flat in front.

Isn't up the only way it could go?
Er, no. They could have been flat, or down even more than recently.

Good for them - their production of great products helps ensure Canon, Sony, etc. keep working to keep improving their products

"...keep working to keep improving their products." And catch up to Nikon!
Too much Nikon gear to make any switch now. I can't imagine starting over and the cost involved. Z9 not yet but who knows. My D850 can do it all as far as I'm concerned. I did over buy on my glass but will sell some off as they never get used anymore.
If you are talking of 2021 over 2020, that is no surprise, 2020 was the Covid year.
I guess my biggest frustration with Nikon Corp is once again exacerbated. About 10 years ago I bought a 600mm f4 lens at I believe was about $11,000. I hadn't used it for about 4 years, so decided to sell it. Took it to Bozeman Camera, had it priced, and discovered it was worth on $4,000 even thought it was in A1 condition. His initial remark when he saw the case, wow, how long have you had this??? He then checked and we learned the auto focus didn't work. What the heck!!! Learned it's common when not used. Repair price, $600 if Nikon hand any parts!!!! And, $150 shipping each way. Fact is I though a lens would last forever if you could attach it to the right camera, wrong!! How long should we expect a lens to work and have back up to repair it?? The new PF tech is great, which has depressed the prices of the older lenses in favor of weight and size advantages, sacrificing f stops. By the way, its been months and still don't have it back. So if I sell it via the shop he keeps a $1,000 plus repair and shipping, so I walk away with $2,000. Might as well keep it for a boat anchor!! I'll see how it works with my Z9 first.

I used a friend’s Nikon. It was a nice camera. But I am still fond of my Canons. I haven’t leaped over to mirrorless.
There are two great resources you should look into. First, try downloading your user manual onto your phone. Second, look around for a PHOTOBERT Cheat Sheet for your specific camera.
I am trying to compare the Nikon D6 and the Canon R3. Both are worthy mirrorless and give more bang for the buck.
Well if you meant D6, it’s not mirrorless. If you meant Z6 it’s a strange comparison. The R3 is a Pro camera that is $4000 more than a Z6II. A more apt comparison would be the Z9.

Just my type! Skinny and flat is my wheelhouse
😜🤪🤤
[quote=Strodav]I follow Nikon as I own a lot of their gear. They were late to the party in re-organizing their business as volume dropped, but they got there by consolidating and choosing less costly manufacturing plants as well as cutting costs at corporate. They are still working on it as they build a newer, less expensive corporate headquarters and have started to rationalize their product lines as they discontinue obsolete bodies and glass. They discontinued products that compete with cell phones and have refocused on the enthusiast and professional photography marketplace. Nikon fell behind in mirrorless technology. [quote]
For some reason when I switched to digital, I went With Canon. Strange because my film stufF was all Nikon Maybe a few old Nikon bodies in a drawer in my office (an F plus a third party or two), gave the lens away to a jr. colleague (an 85, 1.8mm). Probably somethig I read but who knows what. Anyway, I'm 100% Canon digital now if anybody cares: a couple of bodies and a half dozen or so lens. Harry

I wasn't responsible for any of their profits last year. I hope nobody will hold that against me.
