Thanks, Bill!! I run Photoshop 2022, so I really don't need it. I was just curious to see if it opened.

From what I have seen online, probably not. However, it is Windows you're dealing with. : )

Let us know how it goes. It should be smooth sailing.

Just kidding. The only way to know the answer(s) you seek with complete certainty is to consult the web sites of the vendors of your programs for compatibility information.

New hardware and new operating systems quite often disable older software, UNLESS you download and install an update of some sort, up to and including a new version of the software. Sometimes, a new generation of computers will send a previous version of some software to that great electromagnetic beyond... (it becomes obsolete — as in ABANDONWARE). In that case, you may need some other software to replace it.

It is always a very good idea to keep your previous system intact until you replace it completely and know that all of your software AND PERIPHERALS (printers, scanners, drives, etc.) work with the new system. I have several older systems that still work, just so I can use old software that is no longer capable of running on modern operating systems or hardware.

This is excellent advice.

Spare yourself a bunch of grief. Do not purchase anything that runs on Windows software. Buy Mac or Unix, anything but Windows. IMO ANYTHING IN WINDOWS IS GARBAGE. It will always need something done. Look for another operating system!

I built a new computer specifically to go to Windows 11, all my programs work and I have not had a single glitch with it. I went with a Intel I7 12700 cpu, 64 gigs of ram and it is fast.

Will I have problems using my old laptop programs (PSE, printer drivers, etc) vs Win 10?

The only printer I had that worked with windows 10 that i have not been able to get working on windows 11 is my canon selphy cp910. the driver doesnt want to load. i suspect i will be able to make it work by using its ip address but i have not had the time to mess with it. i use the adobe subscription and it works fine with windows 11. i am running a lenovo x1 with a 8th gen i7 processor. My topaz programs also work with windows 11. In addition to photography, i am a developer so I am always on the latest version of the operating systems. i use VMs to run prior versions all the way back to xp.

I had a brief issue with my USB connected Canon printer after moving to 11 as well. Removed and reinstalled with no success, but I fixed the problem by going into control panel and completely removing the USB client for that printer under USB devices and then reinstalling the SW (and a new client automatically installed). Looking at the logs, it appears that the printer was off when the update ran so the USB client was marked as “upgrade failed”, and the installation couldn’t get past that until removed. I think a possible lesson learned is to have all your peripherals on when you upgrade.

That is the worst categorical condemnation of the Windows Operating System I've read on UHH and there have been many. I've been working with Windows operating systems since Win 3.1, and that's approximately 25+ years. I began with DOS in the early 80's. Sure, I've had a few minor scrapes, but no more than those experienced by Apple users who have reported software not functioning due to IOS upgrades. Your comment is not only misleading and inaccurate, it's stupid. I have had no Windows systems difficulty since Win 7 and very few prior issues, including Millennium. I upgraded to Win 10 within two weeks of it's initial offering and have experienced no issues and I see no evidence of negative experiences, other than USER errors, among my friends and UHH subscribers.

I suggest you do some research on the performance of Windows Operating systems before you make any more stupid comments.

I looked through my old supplies and I don't have a serial # to re-download PSE - I bought it from someone on Ebay and the key was e-mailed to me...and my new computer doesn't have a CD-ROM drive. I didn't want to pay like $80 for a data dump Sunday when I got my new desktop, but I think that's the only way I'll be able to get my stuff transferred from my old laptop...I started culling my pics, but I still have about 1/2 TB of them and my older unused laptop also has a bunch plus programs I probably can't use anymore.

Facts speak for themselves. Windows outsells Mac and Unix by a large margin. Some software must work on it if it represents 75% of the market.
