I figured as much because one time on an older system a window popped up stating that it was updating the driver for something.
No pop-ups on the 11 box though.

All transparent to the user, eh?

Maybe. My Windows systems are XP, 7, and 10, and I haven't used any of them in over two years. (They're Mac Parallels Desktop installations.)

We're still using Win 7 on the desktop, 10 years now. The pop-up was when I got the box and connected one of the peripherals, I do not recall which peripheral it was.
My Win 11 laptop is less than 30 days old, my wife's laptop updated from 10 to 11 a week or two ago.
That reminds me, I'll have to try my old slide/negative scanner on the Win 7 box one of these days to see if it works.

Yes, you will have problems.

Neither have I (other that the one <unresolved yet> hiccup).
I had to upgrade three software packages and a scanner when I went from an XP box to a 7 box for the desktop.

And now they are talking about Windows 12

That has not been my experience. I have converted two computers from Windows 10 to Windows 11 with no dire consequence.

That's what he said - it's likely to run OK.

I had the same problem. I needed a new desktop and was searching around and finally found a new system with Win 10 on it. Shortly my old laptop could not be upgraded anymore, I could not find any laptops with Win 10 on so I had to settle for Win 11. Everything works fine, except the operator. I have to learn a new operating system. It took me 3 hours to figure out how to shut the damned thing down without using the power button

Cute how they "hid" it....
Kinda right in plain sight.

Will I have problems using my old laptop programs (PSE, printer drivers, etc) vs Win 10?

I doubt that you will have any problems with any programs. Windows is very good with backward compatibility of programs. I have a few programs that are more than 20 years old that work just fine. Occasionally, printer drivers are a problem and then you will need a new printer. The last printer that I bought cost less than the ink to fill it and it came with the ink.

I have both Windows 10 and 11 computers. Windows 11 looks quite different but for the most part, it has the same functionality as Windows 10. There is a feature to have multiple desk tops if you wish.

If it ran on Win10, it's more likely than not to run on Win11. Only actual experience can confirm.

NO! that's not the case.

Correct, it depends on how the program itself was written.
WSFTP '95 works great on my Win 11 box, as does Quicken 2007, and a few others.

Very poor form to write a software package that uses hooks into specific "modules" the operating system.
If that module in the OS is altered or removed, oh well......

So far, all my software applications work just fine, including an ancient Picasa version. I've experienced a faster, smoother ride without issues. I upgraded last week.
PSE 11 opened but it was looking for a serial number, which I don't seem to have.

See if it gives up after running it a bunch of times. I have one package from 2007 that kept asking me to register it.
I kept clicking the "later" button.
It gave up asking.

NO!! He said it IS likely to run OK - just as you said. More likely than not means it IS likely.

Thanks, Bill!! I run Photoshop 2022, so I really don't need it. I was just curious to see if it opened.
