Hm, going to check it out, sounds like a really good deal!

Just so that you're aware, the Nikonos is a film camera and explains why they afe available so cheaply.

Another good bet, if you can find one in good condition, is the Nikon AW-1. It has a 1" sensor (the Oly TG only has a 1/2.3"). The two lens choices are a prime and a zoom. I'd get the zoom and leave it on all the time because changing lenses could mess up the waterproof seal in the lens mount.

Hello folks, does anyone know any budget(300-600$) decent quality underwater cameras? Doesn't need to be anything exceptional. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

I got my TG6 refurbished on Amazon for $349. I think they are $369 now. It works fine. I was surprised at the quality of the photos and 4k video. Video looks good on my 4k TV. It can be returned for 90 days. I only plan on snorkeling so the 50 foot limit is no problem. It shoots JPEG or RAW or both.

I have a TG-6 and like it. It is small, you can get a case for it and add lights if you get more serious.

I did actually have mine down to 90ft and it worked although I was getting a warning that it was to deep.

If money is not an issue the sea life camera might be ideal although it is pretty much oriented to diving.

the Micro3.0 actually has separate easy settings for land, snorkle, dive
the fact that there is no housing to 'leak' is a real plus - it is sealed.
of course, there are many options for brackets & lighting and a macro
lens, if desired. the large piano key buttons make use under water very easy.

How deep? That makes a difference. The TG-6 is good for 50'.

To 120 feet with the very reasonable underwater housing!

Now I can only snorkel, my ears won’t let me dive, and besides my TG-6, (which is my paddle board camera), I have an Outex cover. It’s a silicone sleeve with front and back glass and an adapter ring to attach your lens to the front glass. It’s good down to 33’, which is plenty for snorkeling. I haven’t actually used it for that yet but I’m looking forward to it. I really bought it for kayaking in salt water. My cameras are weathersealed but that salt spay can still kill them. Those bags with the glass are a lot cheaper but they don’t allow for a long zoom. I can use my OM-1 with the 40-150 f/2.8 Pro and the 2X TC in it. I was hoping my RX10MIV would work. It fit ok but the electronic zoom would stutter.

Thanks, going to check it out. Was wondering if those are good enough since recently nearby outdoor store got underwater cameras https://gritroutdoors.com/sealife/
Most likely still going to go with Olympus, especially after reading some reviews and watching some videos about it today. Nevertheless, wanted to know your opinion on Sealife, since I can just pick it up nearby instead of ordering online(not like that's a big issue but still)

For me money wasn't an issue. I don't know anything about "Sealife: so i can't comment.
I research the he11 out of something before I buy it, almost to a fault, but when I commit to something I am pretty sure I am not going to be dissatisfied.
Go with your heart (and wallet) and have a good time shooting.

Take a look at a GoPro if you are just fooling around in the water or a wet boat. The newer generations have a touchscreen control you can use in the water, or you can mount it on your mask and shoot time lapse during your dive. In my limited experience, they are best at video.

Everyone saying tg-6. I have one. Great for kayaking, and maybe ok for snorkeling to 20 feet. Yes, i know what they are "rated" for, but I think the ratings are done by the same company that rates the fuel rating for cars. They look at best case scenarios, not real world use. Plus, with salt water everything will start corroding.

If scuba diving, consider a housed gopro, or a housed (ikelite) dslr. You don't need an expensive setup. Plenty to choose from on ebay.
