Hello folks, does anyone know any budget(300-600$) decent quality underwater cameras? Doesn't need to be anything exceptional. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Yep. The best! Waterproof to 50 feet. An underwater case is available for a LOT less than a typical SLR underwater case and will get you down to 120 feet if you think you will need it. Three auto modes for underwater and does great as a point and shoot walking around. I highly recommend one, love mine and carry it with me ALWAYS in a small shoulder bag. Saved my azz a few months ago when I was involved in a traffic accident!

Thanks, going to check it out. Was wondering if those are good enough since recently nearby outdoor store got underwater cameras https://gritroutdoors.com/sealife/
Most likely still going to go with Olympus, especially after reading some reviews and watching some videos about it today. Nevertheless, wanted to know your opinion on Sealife, since I can just pick it up nearby instead of ordering online(not like that's a big issue but still)

I have an Olympus TG-5 and have used it many times. It works great.

Apparently the TG-6 holds it's resell value quite well. I haven't seen a used one for under $400 anywhere. I'm looking for one to shoot events in the rain.

FWIW. I bought an Oly TG-1 on a whim when it first came out. I was amazed at the quality of pictures it took both under and above water. Now, even though I have several other cameras, I never go on vacation without my trusty Olympus. Tempted to upgrade to the six but except for shooting raw, I can't find a good reason to. If it had an EVF it would be perfect.

If you want to shoot film! Not only is the Olympus great for underwater and bad conditions, but it shoots raw and has some of the “computational photography” tools found in high end Olympus cameras. It does decent macro too.

Kind of depends on what your underwater goals are. Are you planning snorkeling, shallow diving, deeper diving, or tech diving. In your price range for snorkeling there are waterproof cameras from Nikon and others for 300 or less. For shallow diving the TG-6, entry level Sealife, and GoPro 10 are all great solutions. Add the UW housings to the TG-6 and the GoPro then they along with the Sealife will go to max recreational depth.

In any case for UW photography remember to be a diver first and photog second. Then get close and when you think you are too close get closer.

These are 2 GoPro shots

How deep? That makes a difference. The TG-6 is good for 50'.
