I agree----I ride road bike, mt. and cross and horses----------------but usually take point and shoot small p&s ------not the slrs---but would like a secure strap also----------

There is another strap you can buy to hold the camera close that I use when biking though I ride a recumbent. http://optechusa.com/straps/stabilizer-strap.html
I don't actually have this strap, I wish that I did. I made a homemade one that works ok, but I think this would be much better.

For those of you who are into "adventure" sports and need a way to carry equipment, check out www.clikelite.com. they have a variety of chest and back packs that are designed to allow freedom of movement while climbing, hiking, cycling etc. I used one of their chest packs last year while climbing in the Alps and it worked admirably.

Dinah, check out their chest packs with harness systems as a way to carry a DSLR. It would probably be better with an off-road bike rather that a Roadie.. Having it on your back might make it more difficult to access. You could even combine it with a backpack for additional gear as they have entire systems available. High quality stuff, too.

Just wondering how the group feels about neck straps vs other carrying straps.

I do a lot hiking with my Canon Mark 5, so I purchased one of the full loop, over the shoulder straps, that's suppose to position the camera at waist level by your hand. Trouble was the strap had a buckle right where the camera slide would catch everytime I would try to bring the camera up to eye level.

any thoughts?

I do not use the strap with the product name on it. They don't compensate me.!

That's the same reason why I place a strip of black tape over the logo on my cameras. When people ask me what kind of camera i'm using, I smile and tell them I use a black one.

The other thing I like about the optech is I can switch straps in seconds. I have neck strap, the harness and a wrist strap. All use the same clips.

Right! And all of their bits and pieces are interchangeable. I wanted longer straps for something, so I called them. They sent me the longer straps within a few days.

I posted about that. I put both connectors on the L strap lug, end of problem.

Have you taken any photos that would blow the viewing public's socks off? Maybe if you did that,
they would then compensate you, and you could then take that tacky black tape off of your camera!

Hi Chuck,
I have just purchased a Carryspeed FS-Slim F-1 strap which has a flat plate so you can use it on your shoulder but also put it on a tripod without removing the strap. Look at www.carryspeed.com for details. I live in UK but purchased it from USA and it only took about 4 days. Carriage was $10 but it is free in USA. Worth having a look at anyway. There are lots of videos about it. I got the one with the foldable mounting plate.

Regards

I'm with you ..i also use a carryspeed, the pro and also the slim..caint beat em...
