I can not find a Nikon bluetooth wireless trigger on the B&H site. What are you referring to?

The Nikon ML-L7 is the bluetooth wireless trigger, but it won't work on the D800. But I've replaced my WR-T10/R10/A10 for my Z bodies with that trigger. The WR-T10/R10/A10 is the one you want for the D800 (or you can get the WR-R11a/WR-T10 which is dedicated to the Pro cameras).

The WR-T10/R10/A10 is a nice set. The $199 price tag might make it overkill for an occaisional use.

I have a D810 and use Hahnel Combi TF remote. Works very well. You can get it at B&H and other places.

I use a Freeware Plus by Vella on my D850. I can use single shot, continuous mode or bulb. It can also auto focus. Found it on Amazon.

I've been using an SMDV RFN4s Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon for about 6-7 years. It has worked flawlessly every time.

I recently acquired a Nikon D800 and see that it isn’t compatible with the ML3 infrared remote. Any suggestions or experiences on different brands or styles of remotes? I don’t use a remote very often but they are invaluable when you do need one. Thanks!

I like the radio transmitter/receiver setups. They can reach out a couple hundred feet and around corners if needed, non-directional.

IR remotes or releases of any kind are kinda sucky. They only work in a clear line of sight way. RF units are much better if you don't want wired technology.

I've had one for several years on my D7200. Easy setup and works great. For night moon shots etc you can trigger mirror up and then take shot. Receiver mounts on flash mount and plugs into designated port on camera. Turn it on. Turn on remote and they should automatically connect on the default signal setting which can be changed if conflicting with other devices. Don't mean to be a smart a**, but did you read the setup instruction?

I have a Nikon D800 and I have and use a Vello Shutterboss III wireless remote with the D800. B&H lists it as "Temporarily Out of Stock" and somewhere else I saw it marked as discontinued for Canon and Sony camera's.

There is a new Vello model listed at B&H for Nikon, the Vello Wireless ShutterBoss 4.0 Remote Timer and Trigger. Looking at the compatibility chart, It does not say D800, but it says D800E, D810, and D850. The D800E is basically the same as the D800 but without the anti-aliasing filter. Link below for the current Vello model.

Hope that helps.

It would be compatible with any D800 series model

I have used the smdv rfn04s wireless remote for a number of years with my nikon 10pin cameras and it has worked very well. On one camera it is a little hard to get threaded but the others are much easier. I don't know what the difference is.

I use the Vello. Inexpensive and does the trick.
