Marmot excellence!!! Great series with fun captions and nice little blacktail buck! That park has so much to offer, looking forward to more images from there!

National parks have regulations against picking wild flowers. They also have regulations against picking anything up to take with you, like firewood or stones or artifacts ostensibly to protect the resource. There is one exception, you are allowed to pick things that are edible like fruits, berries, and nuts. Since our friend here was eating the wild flowers, he's in the clear.

Well, I gave Mr. Marmot the benefit of the doubt anyway and let him get away with it. Now I'm not going to say what I did to the obnoxious kids who were of trail and trampling the flowers, or to their parents that let them. Not on a public forum!

Thanks Rob. Yes, this has always been one of my very favorite parks. I've been going there at least every other year since the early 80s. I've backpacked through the park, read "The Press Expedition" book several times, summitted Mt. Olympus and did the 36-mile hike out through the rain forest in a monsoon wading through chest deep water with full pack and climbing gear. Lots of good memories from Olympic.

And I even saw 5 bears on this visit (rare), including an old double snaggle-toothed boar. Unfortunately, all were late in the day with low light, so no good photos to show.
