I have to agree with Linda on these two images. Neither sky works for me. I do like the birds. I think the more important question is, Do you like them? In the end, it's your work, some people will like it, some won't.

When I posted these examples I hadn’t made up my mind on how I felt about them. This is not uncommon for me. I think one issue was the bright white clouds. As I previously mentioned they can be pretty dramatic around here. That seemed to be an issue.
BTW, I would get nervous, if everyone liked them. I would consider it to posting a shot of a cute kid or puppy. Everyone likes those shots.😀

Neither one. Both are too busy and detract from the eagles.

I like being attracted to the sky and the light rays. The vultures are just vultures, but the light rays are somewhat special to me. Perhaps tone the rays down a tad, but both work for me.

I came across this quote the other day.

"I came to the realization that we won't necessarily like 100% of what creative people create, and they're not obligated to produce stuff to satisfy anyone other than themselves. Beyond that, what I like may not be what you like."..... Anthony Morganti

Neither. I think I would like plain blue sky behind the birds and a few clouds in the open space, but not to white and billowy.

But then...

Who am I?

I found this exercise interesting...... In your first pair with the sun rays, I liked the first one, as I found the palette choice and sun rays to give your scene an ethereal presentation. I understood it as your creativity. In the 2nd pair where you removed they rays, I liked the birds against the blue sky as I felt the blue background was a better/more realistic contrast to the birds in flight. Don't stop being creative. Bev

Which sky do you prefer either one or neither one?

I would prefer one without burned out highlights, but the top one is the least distracting.

Photographing the sky is a challenge when trying to maintain realistic detail in cloud highlights. Raw capture can do it reasonably well.

I like the birds!
