Kevin, I cannot even suggest anything else that you have not already heard by now...Bob raises a good point about time. But I suggest expanding that to not only how much time are you spending in Bar Harbor (this includes Acadia); but how much time do you have remaining to visit other areas? This includes your trip back home? 3 days? Week? Month?
Time will be the factor to determine where you will go maximize your experience.

Lubec is a neat little town. Easternmost point in the US. About two and a half hours from Bar Harbor.
If you take your Passports you can take the bridge to Campobello Island in Canada. If they're letting us in now....

Southeast of Boston is Plimoth Patuxet Museums (Plymouth Plantation).

Of course it depends on what you like to see.......

Thank you Longshadow for the info! ~Cheers, Kevin

Warrens Lobster House in Kittery, Maine, which is just over the NH/Maine border. Ogunquit, Maine, which is kinda the Provincetown of Maine. Walk the Marginal Way and get some really nice views looking out to sea. One of the end points of the Marginal Way is Perkins Cove, which has some unique shops to browse through, and should provide some good photo ops as well. Harbor candy shop, in downtown Ogunquit, and La Pizzeria right across the street from the candy shop, are 2 of my “stop in every time I’m there” places. Hope your trip turns out to be exceptional, and that you enjoy it.

Camden, Brooklin, Belfast. Consider a ferry tour of the islands in Portland. Portland Head Light.

Northeast/Southwest Harbors near Acadia.

Point Lookout in Lincolnville is a great place to spend the night near Camden; check out the bridge a few miles north of there.

Three hour schooner cruise out of Camden.

Thank you george19 for the info! Sounds great!~ Kevin

If you’re a fan of the Wyeth family check out the Farnsworth museum in Rockland ME., visit the Olsen farm in nearby Cushing, take the ferry out to Monhegan Island from nearby Port Clyde for a spectacular Island experience.

Thank you Walkabout08 for the info, if time permits the ferry sound interesting! Kevin

Kevin, all of these suggestions are excellent. Some of these areas are stunning. But, unless you get a shot with exceptional light, they all will have been done before. Good for memories, OK for photo books.
I suggest you could try for something different. Go for continuity, a commonality in all the areas, which is the "locals."
If you have done street photography, you know what I mean. If you haven't, you might have to get out of your comfort level. In fact, you can go down to the various docks in Barnegat Bay to practice.
One hint: you can't have family members rushing you.
I would be happy to give you more hints in a PM if you're interested.

Go for Bethel, you wont be disappointed. I went during Autumn but the region is really beautiful and it must be great during summer too.

You can pass by going to Bar Harbor, but not if, like many people do, you first drive up to Bangor, so as to stay on US95 as long as possible. Using Rt. 1 is more scenic but it may actually take longer. Be warned about Bar Harbor though. Traffic is terrible in the summer and finding a parking space in Bar Harbor may be impossible. The alternative is to stop at the visitor center of Acadia National Park and take one of there bus rides around the park.

I've only been to P-town once, back in the 1980's and it was not worth the long drive out to the tip of Cape Cod. Traffic on the Cape is awful in the summer, but closer by are interesting places like Mashpee and Woods Hole. From Woods hole you can catch a ferry to either Martha's Vineyard or to Nantucket. Both offer good photo opportunities but I'd say the Vineyard is slightly better for that and is considerably closer.

Appreciate your feedback. ~Kevin

Kevin, You have no end of good suggestions here. But if you love lighthouses, and who doesn't?, Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is not to be missed. https://www.bristolmaine.org/parks-recreation/pemaquid-point-lighthouse-park
You'll be very glad you stopped there. As a photographer who photographed Maine over many years, one thing to remember is that no matter who took the photo before you, your shot is your expression. Try to take it the way you see and feel it, and you'll have a real good chance of having a unique and meaningful photo. Good luck and have a good time.

Schoodic Peninsula is a must see. However, it is important to be there with the tide coming in. Amazing waves hitting the granite shore. Highly recommended. The Bass Harbor Lighthouse is nice.
