Great photos taken from afar. I understand the life lesson here.

These show the harshness of life in Yellowstone. It was raining/snow and a little dark even though it was morning. Taken at 840mm and a heavy crop. I'm glad I did not see the kill. I know it is the circle of life, but I don't have to like it!
This bear was not about to leave the area and let his meal go to another. At times he or she would just put their head down and fall asleep. It did cover up his meal and walked off to a small pond and got a drink at one point, but came right back.

Great series of interesting photos! Thanks for posting.

Excellent photos! An apex predator. We may not like it, but that is nature.

Fine set of images but not, IMHO, harsh. A fella has to eat and, while some find it hard to watch, this is the way it is.

Photolady2014, Again you impress us with your photo skills. Think it is number 3 that impresses me most in not wanting to ever walk into the kill zone of a grizzly. Just look at the intense stare of the griz! I can almost detect whether the kill is a deer fawn or elk calf; it is one or the other. No need to apologize for your series. Many of the UHH appreciate wildlife reality photos which are well done. Besides, you labeled your post with the graphics warning. Best of continued success in your photography. We await further postings.

Thanks so much. I wanted to put another, but felt it might have been too much. It was a baby bison, red dog as they are often called. I love the little red dogs and it was hard to see. But, yes circle of life.

Thanks Ed, I had another but was not sure. Turns out people don’t mind. I have mixed feelings on the photos. Happy for one, sad for the other.
