I had heard good things about them on the Hog. I am trying to trade a older camera on a new one and so far it is one of poorer experiences I’ve had dealing with a camera store.

I am told one thing and then receive an email that is not what was agreed to. 5 phones in and several emails and no solution yet.

Any suggestions?

Suggest .MPB
just sold several items to them and prices were very fair. Rally easy to deal with

You would be better off selling it yourself, you won't get much on a trade in anywhere

Both Adorama and B&H are owned by Hasidic Jews with the beards and huge black hats. Like the Hasidics in the diamond business, they are known for always keeping their word. If you deal honestly with them and always describe your item accurately, you'll have no problems with the companies lowering quoted prices. Will their first offers sometimes be low when you propose to sell them a used camera. Sure ... but with diamonds or cameras, that's part of the bargaining process. If they quote you about 70%-75% of their latest price for a new item, that's all your camera is worth if it's in top condition. If their first offer is too low, just quote them their latest price for a new item, or their selling price for the same item used, and they will probably come back with an offer within the 70-75& band.

As others have mentioned, I’ve had great experiences selling gear to fellow Hoggers here. I highly recommend this approach.

I think it’s MPB? I just purchased a used set from them. Nothing turns up for a search of MBP.

I've had only good dealings with Adorama ! But have only bought b retail small purchases (;SD cards ) ECT... On sale !!! And never Had any problems! Only Suggestion I would make other than what other members have Said ? About try selling it too another company ? Or on your own ? ( Marketplace /Facebook / eBay ECT!!! is if your dealing cs with a company larger b than one employee ? Always deal with the Same person !!!

Both Adorama and B&H are owned by Hasidic Jews... (show quote)

Hey there, We are Hasidic Jews and we treat everyone with the utmost care. Of course we do business to make a living, but we do it in a honest method. It is not about making it all on one customer, no we choose to build a repeat customer that will tell friends about how well that we treated them. In other words, we can make more with 2-3 customers and provide them a fair cost so that we make more by more customers instead of just one. It is better to have a Family than to be alone.

If you sell again, try MBP.

I have had good experiences with Adorama on retail purchases, very bad trying to sell gear. Assume trading might fall into the same column. Would advise you to try B&H or Roberts Used Photo Pro. There are others that are highly thought of as well.

I also had bad experiences selling used equipment to them. I queered the deal and went with Mpb.

Although Adorama is very good, I would never sell to a dealer. When it's time to say Goodbye, I use eBay. It's gone in a week, and I get a fair price.

Every thing worked out fine with Adorama. They accepted the trade at what was quoted and sent the new camera and lens last week.

Having fun learning the menus. LOL

Thanks for all the replies...

A couple years ago, Adorama fired an employee CS who had expressed frustration with the number of customer complaints directed toward their used department. Most were bait and switch and/or down valuing items from sellers. Details can be found searching the archives of dpreview and FredMiranda. I will hold on to an item before buying or selling used to/from Adorama. Choose a private (like here!) or KEH or MPB or eBay, etc.

I wasn’t fired; I quit, because I couldn’t stand the lying & hypocrisy
