I had heard good things about them on the Hog. I am trying to trade a older camera on a new one and so far it is one of poorer experiences I’ve had dealing with a camera store.
I am told one thing and then receive an email that is not what was agreed to. 5 phones in and several emails and no solution yet.
Any suggestions?
I have had good experiences with Adorama on retail purchases, very bad trying to sell gear. Assume trading might fall into the same column. Would advise you to try B&H or Roberts Used Photo Pro. There are others that are highly thought of as well.
I have had a great experience selling here to fellow members.
Thanks
Hopefully it will be a good outcome.
I've only sold stuff privately not to a company wanting to resell used equipment. They'll want to make a profit from everything they sell that's their business. I try to get prices of used equipment online then price what I'm selling accordingly.

I my experience Adorama is a good store to buy from but not sell or trade with. I tried to sell them a lens once. They quoted me $1,800. After a few days I got a call that there was a spec of dirt in the lens so they would have to knock a little off. The new quote was $1,000. When I said, 'that's more than a little' he laughed and said 'I guess it's a lot'. I told him to return it and he started arguing with me, but wouldn't budge on the price. I sent it to KEH and no questions asked got $1,800.

I've found a better experience selling to or trading with MBP.
I’ve used MBP with very good results. They did not have the Camera or lense I am interested in.
As of now Adorama assures me they have the correct price on the trade and new items. I’m hopeful!
Supposed to arrive in 2 days.

But you can sign up for an alert when MPB gets the gear in, which they usually do fairly quickly.
Thanks I’ll try and remember that for the future.

I had the similar experience with Adorama. They tried to low ball their initial quote by hundreds of dollars. I asked them to return the lens because I could get my price with MPB. Adorama relented and met the original quote. I’ve never used them since.
I’m still trying to deal with them. I thought we had everything resolved yesterday, but the invoice is not correct. If I can’t get a corrected invoice, I’ll have no choice but to have my old equipment sent back.
I certainly won’t be using them for any kind of trade or equipment sale in the future.

My suggestion is to try and sell it yourself. Maybe here. I sold a used lens on this site and it worked out well.
The issue with trading a camera in, with anyone, is you never get what its really worth.
When using MPB it always went well. Lesson learned.

They sent me an email with a price for a trade in, when I flew to New York and brought them my camera, they gave me a lower price. I showed them the email and they said that person no longer works there!
