Just as digital image replaced film mirrorless cameras will be all camera makers produce. That old SLR with a prism and mechanical mirror that must move out of the shutters way. For years SLRs were one of best. But now dethroned by technology mirrorless rules

After traveling around Italy with a 7D and a large lens I decided to buy a simple Canon mirrorless- unfortunately I prefer the D7 - better results and even with the weight I am more comfortable with it

After doing a throughout research, I discovered that the topics that more pages generate are:

a) RAW vs. JPEG
b) DSLR vs Mirrorless
c) "REAL cameras" vs, Phones

I'm thinking on feeding all the pages of that discussions into an AI automatic writing system and see what kind of essay it can write on its own.

Mmmmm, popcorn.
In my youth I worked for a vending company that serviced food stands in movie theaters, both walk in and drive in theaters. In the time I worked there I popped a whole lot of popcorn, and I still like it to this day.

Glad you didn't OD on it there!

The mirrorless lenses are hands-down better in every single model.
The mirrorless cameras have the newer / newest processors that will never be updated into the DSLRinosaurs.
DSLRinosaurs will never have IBIS.
DSLRinosaurs will never have silent shutters (electronic shutters with no mechanical parts).
Top MILC bodies, now even Canon's mid range mirrorless, have frames per second that run multiple laps around DSLRinosaurs stuck the tarpits.
Mirrorless have all the AF innovations never to be updated into DSLRinosaurs.
Mirrorless bodies can adapt any brand's SLR-mount lenses, enabling all sorts of lenses with IBIS and focus peaking technology for better results than ever on their legacy bodies.

It's not even a competition. If someone tells you they can't see the difference in an image from a mirrorless camera, they're lying.
The mirrorless lenses are hands-down better in u ... (show quote)

Mirrorless cameras through and through are already miles ahead of DSLRs. That goes even for the most affordable mirrorless cameras. It’s night and day, truly.

Smart/cell phones have real cameras, just not dedicated cameras, but they are indeed real.
RAW is better than JPG, but JPG is usually good enough and a lot more convenient.
That would be DSLR vs MILC, as most of the rest of the digital camera choices have no mirror, making them mirrorless.

agree.....I prefer my old Nikon 7200 over the new FujiXT3

I prefer my Fujifilm X-T4 to my old Nikon D4. I changed when my granddaughter had a graduation ceremony at her high school. I had my D4, my 70-200 lens, and a tele converter in case I needed it. By the time I got to an empty seat, and I wanted to throw it away. I decided then and there that I was getting too old with too many health problems to schlepp that thing around anymore, so I went with Fujis XT line. I never looked back, and thoroughly enjoy shooting with my smaller camera.

Nothing like the plain, caramel and cheddar trifecta of popcorn, in a big artistic can.

I had a really nice Panasonic digital camera years ago. It was a nice camera and I liked it. So did one of my daughters who decided she liked it better than I liked it. I don't remember the model, but it was solid, and it recorded nice images. That camera was her intro to digital photography, and now she's a part time Pro photographer.
