Just as digital image replaced film mirrorless cameras will be all camera makers produce. That old SLR with a prism and mechanical mirror that must move out of the shutters way. For years SLRs were one of best. But now dethroned by technology mirrorless rules

As long as my DSLRs allow me to take excellent images, I will keep them. I think good pictures are due to the skill of the photographer - nobody needs a mirrorless camera. They may want one, but that's different.

The mirrorless lenses are hands-down better in every single model.
The mirrorless cameras have the newer / newest processors that will never be updated into the DSLRinosaurs.
DSLRinosaurs will never have IBIS.
DSLRinosaurs will never have silent shutters (electronic shutters with no mechanical parts).
Top MILC bodies, now even Canon's mid range mirrorless, have frames per second that run multiple laps around DSLRinosaurs stuck the tarpits.
Mirrorless have all the AF innovations never to be updated into DSLRinosaurs.
Mirrorless bodies can adapt any brand's SLR-mount lenses, enabling all sorts of lenses with IBIS and focus peaking technology for better results than ever on their legacy bodies.

It's not even a competition. If someone tells you they can't see the difference in an image from a mirrorless camera, they're lying.

Yes, I know someone already asked you this already, but I am sorry to trouble you to tell me/us the benefit of mirrorless cameras over DSLRs. I promise I will google this and do my research too, but I respect your opinions and I'd appreciate it if you could help me with this. Thank you kindly in advance.

Great...another 8 pages.

You are 100% correct, though. Who cares what's used, so long as you get the shot you want!

We have a winner!

This is totally not true. Pentax K-3 models (APS-C) had it since 2014. Pentax K-1 (FF) had Sensor-shift Image Stabilization since 2016.
Pentax was the first to introduce this technology. I had K-3 and K-1 and their IBIS was flawless.

Ok. If I did go mirrorless, what will it cost me, even for the most basic or mid-range set-up. What can I get for My 2 year old 80D? Will I see these spectacular results using my old EF lenses and an adapter? Or must I invest in new lenses. So many questions.

Mirrorless cameras are "okay." DSLRs are still absolutely "good enough and okay!"

Photographers should continue to feel comfortable using whatever camera equipment they want, what they like, and what they can afford. Even today, few photographers can match the work of Ansel Adams and some of the other first-rate photographers of the past. There is nothing at all magic about mirrorless cameras. Frankly, mirrorless cameras are battery hogs; they are a means for manufacturers to make more sales of new equipment for themselves, which is fine. At the bottomline, mirrorless cameras are no better than DSLRs, they are just different.

And by the way, I own several mirrorless cameras, and there isn't anything to see to make them, or the photographs they render, to stand out as being better than DSLRs. Mirrorless cameras don't necessarily produce better images.

I will second that. Perhaps we could have a second separate section devoted to dslr photos and the ones taken with the new, best and greatest cameras.

Then there would be a problem with arguing over when a camera is no longer "new" or "best" and is no longer permitted in the section.

There's nothing that requires you to participate in the conversation. If you don't care for long conversation, don't participate. It really is that simple.

MILC'S, along with being ok are also absolutely good enough. When my Canon R7 arrives next week, I plan on doing a comparison with my 90D, the camera it is most similar to. I really don't expect the image quality to be that much better, if better at all. But I do expect the keeper rate to increase. The AF and IS systems in the R7 give it a distinct advantage over the 90D. A side by side comparison of specs indicates the R7 is pretty much a better camera technologically, and although it's about the same size, it weighs half as much.
By the way, my very first "digital" camera, which I bought in the spring of 2001 and still have, is a mirrorless camera, not an MILC but mirrorless none the less as it has no reflex mirror.
As for MILC's being battery hogs, the average high end DSLR is usually good for around 1000 - 1200 shots per battery and the average high end MILC is good for about 500 - 700 shots or roughly half. As I said earlier, the R7 weighs about half of what the 90D weighs. Given the weight difference, I'll carry a couple spare batteries, they don't weigh much and it's well worth having them.

Mmmmm, popcorn.
In my youth I worked for a vending company that serviced food stands in movie theaters, both walk in and drive in theaters. In the time I worked there I popped a whole lot of popcorn, and I still like it to this day.
