Please whenever you get a message like this from any source, don't click on the provided link. Here's what you should do: "delete the email". Don't think twice just delete.

I doubt a Facebook "security" email would have the address as facebookmail.com. I'd follow everyone's advice of running antivirus and start a new page, if you really want one that badly. Cut your losses and as someone said it's only Facebook.

I got the following email from Facebook;

"John, you have 30 days to take action. Your Facebook account has been suspended. This is because some of your posts or comments don’t follow our Community Standards. If you think we suspended your account by mistake, you have 30 days to disagree with our decision. If you miss this deadline your account will be permanently disabled."

There was a button saying "disagree with decision" which I pushed. Then I got another email saying there was a problem with my Facebook ad account and I needed to verify payment. But I don't have and have never had a Facebook ad account. So I assume someone hacked my account, opened an ad account and posted something that violated the terms of service. The emails looked to come from authentic Facebook addresses, and when I went to Facebook my page had this notice:

"Review requested
If we find that your posts or comments didn't follow our Community Standards, your account will remain disabled.
We're always looking out for the security of people on Facebook, so while your posts and comments are reviewed you can't use Facebook."

Facebook doesn't have a customer support number or email that I could find to report the hacking. I found some support online, but it always leads back to my blocked home page. I can't believe there isn't a way to report to them that my account has been hacked. It has been two weeks now and I haven't heard anything else from them. Has anyone else had this experience, and what did you do? I only use Facebook to keep up with some family and friends, and a couple Facebook groups. I haven't even made any posts for a long time.

1. It is better not to have a Facbook account.

2. NEVER reply to an e-mail asking payment or personal information. If you need to contact the company go to their website or call their number (and NOT any number listed in the e-mail).

3. Delete the email - it is a scam. You can check your Facebook acount to see if it is OK.

Earlier this year I uploaded some duck images to facebook. I said here are the duck photos I shot at Ottawa NWR's Boss Unit. I was disablied immeadiately and to this day I cannot upload to Nikon's user's facebook or a local birding facebook. I only up load to my personnel facebook page. When I try to upload images to the above I'm told my account is disabled for 20 days. I've tryed opening a new account but then it tells me that there is one already there. Facebook is no help on this. That's why I now believe that Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck run facebook

I wish people who want to comment on this would read the entire thread, as many suggest things that I have already tried or commented on. Also, I'm tired of people who don't like Facebook and say I am better off without it. I have family members and friends who often post photos, and I like to see them. It wouldn't be a tragedy if I couldn't get back on, but I would miss many posts I would like to see.

FaceBook could care less about you or solving your problem. It's next to impossible to contact anyone with FaceBook. Dump them.

However, twice or three times in the past 8 or 9 years I have received text messages similar to the first message you mentioned. I did not click the included link(s), nor respond to the messages in any way.

Periodically, I receive text messages with "your confirmation code", from FB, alledgedly, which is supposed to allow me to access my FB account, again (yeah, that's right, that account I've never ever had).

I've always chalked it up to a phishing attempt by someone without good intentions.

When I get a suspicious email with a button the first thing I do is right-click the button and click on 'save link address'. I then paste that address into a text editor to be sure I know where the button is going. What is says on the button is irrelevant. It's the link that matters.

Gmail allows me to hover the curser over the message and the address pops up. If is is a supposed warning from, say, Microsoft, the address should be microsoft.com...... not fred@keiekijujehd442djuush.jyt for example

All email programs do things differently, some will make it easy to see the link and some won't.

But you should even beware of slight misspellings like micr0soft.com

Do you think that the scammer might have sent the original email (about the suspension) as well.

I hope not. The email came from <security@facebookmail.com>. And my Facebook page, accessed from my browser on two computers, has actually been disabled. A Facebook friend can see my page, but all the information is missing. I don't know if a hacker could accomplish that. Also, I keep getting emails from Facebook Business asking me to complete the profile on the fake ad account which has been created. Any Facebook Help link I click on just takes me to the disabled page.

I tried facebookmail.com and it redirects to www.facebook.com/help/1634546593478660

I just consider Facebook an insecure site to begin with.

"Verify Payment"???? What do you pay Facebook for? Ads?
My FB account is free.

Right. It could be a double hack - or no hack at all.

It seems that FB hacking is very common. I keep getting Friend requests from people who are already Friends.
