I still believe this was really from Facebook, and my account was really hacked. But even if it wasn't, there seems to be no way to contact Facebook and get this straightened out.

I just tried calling someone who is a Facebook friend, and asked her to check my page on her end. She said the page is still there, but all the information is missing.

I would run an antivirus program in any case. Good luck.

When I get a suspicious email with a button the first thing I do is right-click the button and click on 'save link address'. I then paste that address into a text editor to be sure I know where the button is going. What is says on the button is irrelevant. It's the link that matters.

Firefox displays the link text at the bottom of the window when you mouse over a link.

Well, I view my emails in the Comcast client in/via Firefox, if there is a link in the email, Firefox (or the email client) displays the link text at the bottom of the window.

Thunderbird email client also displays the link text at the bottom of the Thunderbird window.

I suppose it depends on the email client........

What email client/browser do you use that does not display it?

I got the following email from Facebook;

"John, you have 30 days to take action. Your Facebook account has been suspended. This is because some of your posts or comments don’t follow our Community Standards. If you think we suspended your account by mistake, you have 30 days to disagree with our decision. If you miss this deadline your account will be permanently disabled."

There was a button saying "disagree with decision" which I pushed. Then I got another email saying there was a problem with my Facebook ad account and I needed to verify payment. But I don't have and have never had a Facebook ad account. So I assume someone hacked my account, opened an ad account and posted something that violated the terms of service. The emails looked to come from authentic Facebook addresses, and when I went to Facebook my page had this notice:

"Review requested
If we find that your posts or comments didn't follow our Community Standards, your account will remain disabled.
We're always looking out for the security of people on Facebook, so while your posts and comments are reviewed you can't use Facebook."

Facebook doesn't have a customer support number or email that I could find to report the hacking. I found some support online, but it always leads back to my blocked home page. I can't believe there isn't a way to report to them that my account has been hacked. It has been two weeks now and I haven't heard anything else from them. Has anyone else had this experience, and what did you do? I only use Facebook to keep up with some family and friends, and a couple Facebook groups. I haven't even made any posts for a long time.

This likely will not relieve your concerns, John, but it may be a start on getting info of the situation.

I do always check the URL, and the first email came from security@facebookmail.com. I never entered my user name or password, nor was I asked for it. After I pushed the "disagree with decision" button I went to Facebook from my browser, and my home page had been disabled and had the "review requested" message. The URL was Facebook.com. Could a hacker do that to my actual Facebook page?

Doesn't look like there are the full answers to your questions in these, but maybe any info is better than none.

This one probably has a lot to skim through that does not specifically address your situation:

This one is maybe mostly irrelevant, dunno.

I was never asked to give a user name or password.

Don't know if you had the password saved in your computer, and their malicious program farmed that, then accessed the account without having to prompt you for any information?

Hard to tell how much activity from their end is launched by clicking that "disagree" button.

The same exact thing happened to me. With the total lack of support I've come to realize that facebook is really run by Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. Goofy sits on the board and Woody Woodpecker handles the special projects. So I'm not posting on facebook anymore.
