I had the privilege of performing with him around 1970 when he performed with the Texas Tech Going Marching Band. He was awesome then and still had it at 87.

I remember many an evening watching Johnny Carson and listening to "Doc". I remember back in those days I just couldn't get excited about some of Mom's favorite singers. Now that my Wife have passed away I have changed some of my favorite's. It's hard to believe that Tony Bennett was 91 years old when He made this duet with Diana Krall, and I can't stop listening to this one. His voice is still amazing, and Mom is probably up there saying, "I told you so". I wish He had recorded more with Diana while He still could.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq57pw67ttwThis episode from 60 minutes is sad to watch, but it is very much worth watching it if you haven't already seen it. When He comes on stage to do a performance with Lady Gaga He snaps right back to those younger days of his. His Dr. does a great job of explaining how the alzheimers affects him. Yep, it's sad. We are losing too many good ones.

In 1964, our high school, which had some great musicians, held their annual spring variety show, featuring Doc as the guest artist.
