Domestic cats are valued by humans for companionship and their ability to hunt rodents. About 60 cat breeds are recognized by various cat registries.

Gabby in B&W by Paul Sager, on Flickr

A predator that is most active at dawn and dusk, the cat is a solitary hunter but a social species.

Failure to control breeding of pet cats by spaying and neutering, as well as abandonment of pets, has resulted in large numbers of feral cats worldwide, contributing to the extinction of entire bird, mammal, and reptile species, and evoking population control.

Gabby on film

Gabby came from PAWS Chicago in January 2021. She's now about 4-years old and missing one of her paws. None of the paperwork was sure of where she came from or what has happened in her past. I selected her as part of the clear the older cats program.

Images shared in this post feature Canon EF L-series prime lenses on both digital and film EOS bodies, also many times with EF extenstion tubes for closer focus.

I enjoyed Gabby's portraits. We have two cats to enjoy, they are spayed and neutered.

Great photos of that beautiful girl!! I have 18 and all are rescues. Recently, I adopted 2 from the local pound and one of them is a 7 year old male whose owner had to surrender him because the owner has stomach cancer. He is the sweetest boy.

Please give Gabby hugs and kisses from me and my crew!!

Thank you Bill, Karin, Flyguy, Chris, NMGal, Goober, Dodie, Mike! I feel like I haven't been shooting in 2022. My schedule is about to change as well as a package of film is due to be sent off for developing. Glad you enjoyed these older images.

CHG_CANON, nice Kitty. It seems that when I photograph my Missy, I get "Green Eye" more than I would like. You don't seem to have that problem. Any tips?
