It's not posted, but I asked if I could get a private tour for a $100 and I got one. April and October are the months you want to visit. The canyon shot was at f14 .6 sec ISO200 with a tripod. Try to go around noon then you will have the colums of light. Also while you are in the area goto horseshoe bend at sunset.

Be proud of those pics...beautiful 👏

No more photo tours = no tripod. Flash not needed. Getting tougher to get shots with the crowds. Used to do bracketing on tripods, but no more. A good VR camera will help. Shoot wide open and fast enough for no hand held blur and let ISO go automatic would be my suggestion. Deal with noise in post.

I agree. I did it a few years ago, and if you lag behind the group a bit or get a few steps ahead, the group is no problem. If you go with the people out at the Canyon, they are very friendly and will help out with photo suggestions.

There are NO MORE photography tours in either Upper or Lower Antelope Canyon. They took too much time and clogged up the flow of tours during the day while stopping to let each individual photographer set up tripod for staged sand-thrown-up shots .

. Only regular tour groups, and some extra cost reduced tour group size longer tours. No tripods or flash allowed anymore. As long as you have some light coming in from above, no flash needed anyway. I have done both Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon and nearby Horseshoe Bend. There is climbing down stair ladders into Lower Antelope Canyon. Upper Antelope is a walk straight into at ground level . If you have any walking difficulties, do Upper, not Lower. Both are bucket list places.

If you do Lower Antelope the best Navajo tour guides are the originals, Ken's , they know the best advice for getting the best photos. here is their link:https://www.lowerantelope.com/

All Upper Antelope Canyon Navajo tour outfits are about equal, all good. Summer is most crowded time, but still ok.

Most expensive photo at auction ($6million USD) was made in Upper Antelope. A $3million USD and $2 Million USD photos were made in Lower Antelope Canyon.

I have made award winning shots in both Upper and Lower Antelope canyon.

Here just a couple of my hundreds of shots made in both, plus Horseshoe Bend, nearby. Horseshoe Bend is a 1 1/2 mile roundtrip hike from the car parking lot out to the rim and back, with some elevation. Doable but be prepared with water and there are places to stop and rest along the way. BTW, yes they will allow you to take a single water bottle with you in Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon, but NO backpacks allowed, as once a tourist spread deceased person's ashes in canyon out of his backpack, which is not allowed as it is sacred Navajo Tribal site.

Reservation for tours are required. Yes i have gone and gotten a tour place without reservation, but best to make reservation or take chance of no place in tours.

Cheers

While there, we did both Upper and Lower. Lower seemed better

This is a portrait view of the Bend. I had to take a canyon view wide angle then tilt the camera up for the sky, fused them at the horizon and cropped to a 2:3 aspect ratio

Heading to Page, AZ next Tuesday. Hooked up with Taadidiin Tours to photo in Cardiac Canyon. Take a look at their website, tripods permitted, and the "tour" is up to 5 hours.

At least in the past they have allowed a loop tour of both Cardiac Canyon and Canyon X. That hike is considered strenuous, but I thought it was doable. When I went in 2018 I was the only photographer in the loop tour while there was two vans of customers who went to just Cardiac Canyon. Neither canyon is the equivalent of Antelope Canyon, but they are great little slots with no crowds and plenty of time to explore. Well worth the cost of the tour.

It appears to be the only "tour" presently that permits tripods. I was un both upper and lower Antelope canyons in 1995 for 5 days, no other photographers except myself and Michael Fatali, who is a phenomenal photographer. We spent each of those days exploring and photographing as long as we wanted to, or until daily my allotted stock of Fuji Velia was used up.
The cost of the permit for the week was.....$5.

One More from Upper Antelope Canyon, and two more from a nearby smaller slot canyon. All shots are of Environmental Scientist Brooke H. ,and all shots were made under supervision and with permission of our Navajo guide.

I've been to Lower Antelope twice. What I found worked for me was to spot meter on the brightest area and let the rest fall as it may. If you get sky, it blows out the photo. A higher aperture gave greater detail since you will be working in tight quarters. When we were there, they allowed tripods with a Camera pass but had to have a tripod. The last time, we could not go because my wife did not have a tripod even though I tried to persuade them that she packed my camera gear. If I remember correctly, the one on the right allowed camera passes and the one on the left did not. Might want to ask both.
If you want to have Horseshoe Bend illuminated, need to go after 11 till about 2.
Lee' Ferry is another good spot to go shoot.

No more dedicated photo tours, no more tripods allowed for either Lower Antelope or Upper Antelope Canyon tours. All regular tours now, which still yields great shots.

You can go to Horseshoe Bend late afternoon before sundown, and it has enough dramatic light. Here Horseshoe Bend and the Colorado River, late afternoon.
