While my heart will root for St. Peter's, I've been a "Blue Devil" fan for many years. Now I can also root for Les Brown and his Blue Devils.

I grew up listening to Les Brown! Fabulous band!! Of course, I grew up to Harry James, Stan Kenton, Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Ray Anthony, Glen Miller, Charlie Barnett and others. The hey day of the big bands.

Enjoy this album!

When did Les change his band’s name to “Les Brown and orchestra “? I have a mint 78rpm of Doris Day singing “Sentimental Journey” with his band. Doris was about 18 years old if my memory is correct. Her version, in my opinion, was the best. Record resides on my 1941 model 750 Wurlitzer jukebox. Plays fine.

He did not change the name, but record labels said, Les Brown and his Orchestra. Here's that Doris Day recording.

I forgot that his orchestra was also called "Leslie Brown and his band of Renown". Was that later, say early fifties?

Les Brown and the band of renown is the name I recall. Yes, 50’s.
