http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgVnHVce0pIAl was a favorite of mine. I was able to see him in person at the Meadowbrook Music Festival at Oakland University's outdoor venue. Afterwards, my girlfriend and I went backstage. He was great to talk to. We were the only ones to venture back.
I didn't get to talk to him. He played a couple of times and then left. :-(
Anything by Paul Hardcastle

The ad was pretty good.can't beat a good meercat
We saw him prior to his club closing in New Orleans. He played a full set and even signed CD's after. You could tell his health was not the best, but what a performance and an opportunity to shake his hand, in a great setting. Gary

Thanks Mac. I don't have that Brubeck, though I'm familiar with it. I'll have to pick it up. I hope to hear some great sounds and order some albums from what I hear. Corcovado was great, too. Speaking of Brubeck. Here's a tune you'll remember.

Almost anything by Ella, Sarah Vaughn, George Shearing, Duke Ellington, Basie-etc!! Can't forget Bill Evans' 'You must believe in spring'!! the first time i heard that i was driving and i had to stop my car and just listen!!
Steve - You chose one of the tunes from my most favorite Miles collection, "Greatest Hits" (playlist
here.)
I tried to find a link for one of my other most favorites, "Mingus Fingus#2" (Charles Mingus), but haven't tracked it down yet...
Anything by Miles, Mingus, Parker, Coltrane, Dolphy, Dizzy, etc. works great for me, as well as the "greats" like Duke & Basie, of course. And I particularly like the songwriting of
Wayne Shorter. I also have a weakness toward the "fusion" genre, so I especially like to listen to post-Miles artists like John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea etc.
Here's one of my old Chick faves,
Straight Up and Down, recorded relatively soon after his stint with Miles' band.
Oh yes, and Oscar Peterson is the BEST piano player EVER! (imo!)
That said, I find that I don't really do a whole lot of music listening in general these days, except to whatever NPR happens to be spinning when I'm in the car... (and I always try to find an excuse to drive someplace during the "Jazz Sunday" program!)
Probably his best album. As a jazz enthusiast I am more partial to jazz piano and the late Bill Evans was the pianist in Miles Davis's sextet that backed him on this album.
