Fawns may be left alone all day. Leave it alone until tomorrow. If still there search for a wildlife rehabilitator. Most wildlife officials don't have the time to deal with baby animals that are plentiful this time of year. Most, if raised in captivity, can not then be reintroduced to the wild.

Well hopefully you don’t hit one very often.

A couple of years ago, a good sized white tailed buck was hit in front of our house and the car drove off leaving him injured and in pain. I was out of town at the time and just heard about it from a neighbor. The police were called (this was in the city), but they refused to shoot the deer and left him in pain until animal control finally came and euthanized the deer (making the meat inedible). If I had been home, I would have gotten my handgun and shot the deer and likely been arrested by the policeman for discharging a firearm in the city limits, but there are times you just have to do the right thing and be willing to suffer the consequences.

Contact Best Friends Animal Society in So. UTAH. They have volunteers and shelters in several states and may be able to arrange transportation. If someone can take it in and bottle feed it in the interim. There are videos on YouTube about bottle feeding.

We got lucky. Woke up this morning and the little fellow was gone. Very good news.

You have had eyes on for the whole 8 hours? Mother deer often leave fawns asleep in a safe spot while they forage coming back every so often to check on baby.
And you being there taking pictures could have been what kept Mom from coming out in the open. How close did you get and how long did you stay?

You are right, his human scent is what’s keeping the doe from checking on her fawn, deer are very resilient and don’t need human intervention.
