camera repair disappointment

My SD card would not lock in on my fuji X-S10 camera I sent it to s fuji service center in New Jersey, they said the main board needed to be replaced for $433.00 so I said forget it!! Got it back to day, put the battery in put the card in and closed the battery door to hold the card in an it works fine !!
Please correct me if I am wrong in thinking you people are Assholes! you said my main power board needed to be replaced. I got it back today, put the battery in and everything looked normal, so I put the card in and closed the battery door which held the card in. I took photos and it worked fine leaving me with the feeling that your Biz sucks !! Look for my reviews on Facebook etc !!

Wow! Are you sure you didn't put the card in the wrong way? I have done that before, having the card turned the wrong way. It will definitely not lock in that way.

So what's suck about it? The main power board has to be replaced to make the camera fixed. The camera works without fixing doesn't mean that they cheat you? Camera repair is expensive.

Check that you don't have a small piece of plastic or similar debris stuck in the bottom of the slot. I had a situation where my sd card would not stay in. I looked in with a light and sure enough, there was a small piece from the card itself stuck at the bottom. Another HH had suggested this.

Fuji service does what they are supposed to do. The OP camera is broken although he can use it as is. If he want it fixed it would cost. The price seem high but it's the way cameras are built so even small problem can not be fixed cheaply. Why the OP said Fuji service sucks?

That is a TONG alright, a crime syndicate. On a positive note, I find that often taking something apart and putting it back together fixes problems. But not always. I have never sent camera thing in for warranty service but have had work done by local camera repair shops. Just a cleaning can work wonders.

From your description, it sounds like the camera is still broken. If the memory card does not seat and latch in position with the door open, it's still not 'correct,' and may fail to work at all at the most inopportune time. I think it's likely that you are being pretty unfair to Fuji here.

Fuji may have found that the board is cracked and therefore flexible/unstable where it should be rigid.

Although operational - as you have found, having been able to put the card back in - something like a crack may result in instability. I had a similar problem with a laptop and a new main board was recommended although I could get by without, as long as I was ok with the possibility of an unreliable unit.

The job of the service facility repair was to restore the unit to maximum efficiency and reliability, whereas my objective at the time was minimize expense - objectives are not always congruent.

Or maybe, you just put the card in incorrectly.

Did you at least ask how the main board relates to mounting the card?

Seems to me that (a) you don't know enough about their response and why they gave you the recommendation that they did, and perhaps (b) for whatever reason, you expected the repair to be less expensive - no reason it should be.

No matter, you also seem to be very antagonistic toward the Fuji repair place, and are prepared to write quite possibly unjustified negative reviews based on insufficient information.

I'll refrain from mentioning that when a person is surrounded on all sides by incompetent "assholes", best to examine the possibility that maybe everyone else is normal while the person surrounded...

Nonetheless, for whatever reason, a disappointing experience for you.

the main board must be fine. on my other fuji I took the battery out and the card went in and out fine with no power so the board apparently didn't matter !
