I prefer #2. I find it has less distractions.

Yes, Ithink that’s the way the general consensus is heading Don. Thanks for commenting.

Most here will know I seldom do straight anything, and portraits are seldom my aim. This time however I was shooting locally with a group I'd not been with before and found the model was most suited to this type of shot (rather than for my composite components stock). Any critique is welcome but I'm interested to know which crop works best for you.

Great shot and love the effect in the second. But . . . as it's a "portrait" could the second effect be one in that format?

It could Paul, and I think it would look good. Thanks for reminding me.

I enjoyed reading all the comment. I like the second crop much better. It comes closer to filling the frame with the model. I think the oof elements are a bit distracting; but I got used to it the more I looked at the shot. I did not really notice the "mascara"; but now that it has been mentioned, I can't unsee it.

Yes, it needs to be dealt with Erich. Thanks for taking a look and I think we’re pretty much in agreement.

Crop#2, the close treatment i’s the definite winner
Yep; it’s definitely a help to have Bob as your uncle!
