I’ve been using it a few years and you will hear comments that it’s not good for RAW post work. I don’t find that at all. It does everything I need it to do for RAW and once it’s in JPG format it works nicely. I use it with Topaz DeNoise as a plug-in. It’s the only 2 programs I need for my purposes.

I am a long term user of Affinity and it is a great program and a great value. However, I am sorry to disagree with you regarding the Develop persona. Develop is a mediocre disappointment. It is missing half the functionally, including some absolutely critical features, available in high quality raw programs like Lightroom, Capture One and DxO PhotoLab Elite. I am glad Develop meets your requirements for a raw processor but, with its severely limited feature set, it is not in the same league as the best raw processors available. Perhaps when the next version of Affinity is released they will have addressed this major shortcoming.

They make great software that is moderately priced. I consider it the layman's alternative to the Adobe suite, which is aimed at industry professionals.

Affinity is especially appropriate for folks who hate subscriptions. That said, I'm a very happy subscriber to the Adobe Photography Plan and spent around seven hours in Lightroom Classic and Photoshop today.

One of my plug-ins is Negative Lab Pro, which runs in Lightroom Classic only. It's an essential for me.

I hate spending so much for my Light Room Classic and the hardly ever used Photoshop, but they seem more feature rich than Affinity.

Adobe's $10/month suite of four programs (Adobe Bridge, Lightroom, Lightroom CLASSIC, and Photoshop) is about the cost of a fast food lunch or a mediocre bottle of wine or two coffees at a boutique shop. The organization tools, non-destructive parametric editing tools, printing tools, and export engine are awesome. It is the HUB of a digital imaging workflow. Photoshop and all my other programs are spokes.

Affinity is no slouch, but it isn't a parametric beast like Lightroom or Lightroom CLASSIC. It IS a great bitmap editor. It is just okay at processing raw files to bitmaps. But for the price, it is an incredible buy. I got it just for kicks. I gave it to my son, who uses it often.
