I just received an email from Affinity, announcing 50% off. For us photo finisher, that means that Affinity Photo is now only $26.99. Being a 15 year user of Photoshop, and I have nothing but respect for Photoshop, but I'm now 5 years into Affinity Photo and I like it better for many reasons. And for anyone who might feel that they will become overwhelmed, relax. Beginners can get into, to do many things, and learn other features as you wish.

I should say here that I'm not an employee of Affinity. I'm sharing this information, and one UHH member to another.

Have used Affinity since it first came out. Can do everything I need it to do and was very easy to learn.

Agree

And they update frequently.

Use it with Adobe Bridge and most folks are good to go

I received the email the other day & haven't upgraded in a couple of years. Maybe. I'm a light user of it.
I agree it is a great bang for the dollar even at full cost. Plenty of training available on the internet. A book is available from Seriff/Affinity but, don't know if it has kept up with the updates since it was published last.

It is a raster editor more akin to photoshop than Lightroom.

Bill,
How do you organize your photos?
Thank you

I think you are asking a Lightroom question. I never use that program. For me, after I process the image I want, I store them on a dedicated external hard drive, using the name I decide to give each.

You are welcome Phil. And trust me and the other comments made here, Affinity Photo is THE one all of us should be using. All respect to Photoshop, but I am not sorry that I switched to Affinity Photo.

Affinity Photo does a lot of what Photoshop does and you can use bridge as your organizer but… there are things it doesn’t do as well as Photoshop. I have both and have spent the time to know when to use one or the other or both. Well worth the $26..

I’ve been using it a few years and you will hear comments that it’s not good for RAW post work. I don’t find that at all. It does everything I need it to do for RAW and once it’s in JPG format it works nicely. I use it with Topaz DeNoise as a plug-in. It’s the only 2 programs I need for my purposes.

They make great software that is moderately priced. I consider it the layman's alternative to the Adobe suite, which is aimed at industry professionals.

Affinity is especially appropriate for folks who hate subscriptions. That said, I'm a very happy subscriber to the Adobe Photography Plan and spent around seven hours in Lightroom Classic and Photoshop today.

One of my plug-ins is Negative Lab Pro, which runs in Lightroom Classic only. It's an essential for me.
