Mark,
This was great. Always amazes me the variety of idioms that use Monk’s music. Wonder if his son is still around.
Thanks..
Phil

We were having dinner tonight and I asked her what music she would like during dinner. She thought a moment and said, "Linda Ronstadt". About two months ago we had a Sonos Arc installed for the TV. As a feature of the Sonos system, I was able to tap into my complete music library on a dedicated hard drive in my PC. I have 43,000 mp3 files, including many full albums. I converted(ripped) many of my CD's to mp3 files. I have thousands of files from the former Napster and Limewire and thousands of Youtube audio tracks in my music library. I purchased two additional Sonos speakers which allows me to listen to any of my music files on my PC. Amazing technology.

So, I opened the Sonos app on my iPhone and found Linda's "Round Midnight", double CD album. (she won one of her 10 Grammy's for this incredible album.) Here is the title song of that album. Unfortunately, the entire album is not available on Youtube. If you have not heard this absolutely incredible album, see if you can find a few of its tracks. Well worth the effort. Here are two of the tracks:

Round Midnight (BTW - A Thelonious Monk composition) https://youtu.be/jORG_mTjXQE
I've Got a Crush on You - same album https://youtu.be/Ux-GrEsC95U

Enjoy,
Mark

Thanks Mark... enjoyed listening. It has been a long time since I listened to Linda Ronstadt. Already looking for where to purchase her music on line.

I always know what my wife’s reply to that question would be... no music, or sound of any kind, other than our voices while eating. Me... I always want something making sounds 24 hours a day... we are different that way. Has not kept us from being in love, and married nearly 54 years.

My pleasure and thank you for the kind comment. BTW - I lived in NC for 13 years. Does that at least remove the "damn" part?

Mark, I'm willing to bet you've a copy of her Linda Ronstadt's "Lush Life"?
Always thought her voice was absolutely perfect for this genre!

I admire her singing voice, but I was shocked to hear her speak...........I am unable to describe it, sorry!

Same can be said of Louis Armstrong and others. Their music had little to do with their ability to communicate. I do understand.

Thanks Mark, I’ll listen to her tomorrow - she is always excellent. I go all the way back to when she was with The Stone Ponys. Thanks for reminding me.

For the last day or two, I’ve had an ear worm of Peter Paul and Mary’s rendition of the Bob Dylan song “When The Ship Comes In” spinning around in my brain, so today I listened to several of their old albums remastered In lossless format from Apple’s hi def streaming service, and like you, I remembered how much I loved them - they were the first folk I listened to about 63 years ago as I recall
Thanks Mark, I’ll listen to her tomorrow - she is... (show quote)

Thanks, Chris!! I know I'm blessed with the love of music. Hardly a day goes by without listening and remembering the joy in my heart. My favorites are jazz and classical, but I'm not disappointed by many other forms. I think we share "the love"!
