With more than 800 photos of stained glass windows in my Flickr account, I thought it was time I put forth another small selection of photos of them.

Did you ever notice there is often something hanging in front of rose windows?
Great work!
You seem to have pretty much mastered the light balance of windows in dark churches. I know how difficult it is because I did it once for one church, years ago with a Hasselblad.

Yes, I do notice those obstruction, and I do try to find a way to exclude them.

I don't know that I've "mastered" anything. I just leave the camera on "Auto" and frame my photos. I adjust perspective and isolation in Lightroom. I do sometimes add a little "Clarity" but usually don't need it. All my photos are hand-held, I don't even take a tripod (most churches don't allow them, anyway).

Interesting story about the big round window in my church. It is behind the big pipe organ and was in place for some time before the organ was installed, so folks were accustomed to seeing all of it. When the organ was installed, it covered up some of the lower part of the window for those near the front of the church, and the donors of the window objected to it (they'd paid $35,000 for it and wanted it to be seen). The organ builder (from Bonn, Germany) came back and altered the installation as much as possible (even cutting a pipe on a diagonal) to reveal more of the window. This is the window in full view:

Nice window.Really nice pics. I learned how to create stained glass windows but never did learn how to do the painting on the glass for the faces.
I also played the organ for church services, would love to play the one in the last pic.
