Grandfather’s photo.

There’s always one who disregards request from people who make requests like this stage manager did.
It’s called “screw you, I’ll do what I want”. Welcome to the world of a— holes.
Sssshhhhhezzzz!
St Augustine: "Learn the rules very, very well.....so you will know when to break them!"
You go Granddad.
Speaking as a fellow grandfather I disagree, you were wrong. In the grand scheme of things it’s pretty low on the list of unforgivable offenses but it’s still wrong.
For those that can't express their opinions without being angry and insulting, try this...just agree to disagree and go about your day. You'll be a much happier person.

It's difficult to express opinions in
very few words without some people interpreting them incorrectly.
Some may have been not quite as "angry" as one might infer. Others, maybe yes.
Inflections cannot be "heard" on the written page.
Angry and displeased are quite different.

I've seen many of your posts before and forgot to ignore you but won't let it happen again. Hope you feel better.

And then there are people who cannot
simply converse without getting distressed or upset.
It looks to me like you were right on stage during the action instead of in the audience. What was the shooting distance?

( Please do not use photography with cameras or iPhones during the play!( the stage manager was very firm on microphone before the high school play began. My grandson had a part of the play and while I felt guilty I pulled my iPhone and took the picture. I know the guilt is going away but the photo is going to be with me for ever.
A few years ago, I would have been critical of the arrogance of knowingly breaking a rule; but as a 70 year old grandfather, I understand completely and say “No big deal”. Treasure the image. You have earned the right.”

It's a great shot but I wonder why no photography was allowed. Perhaps they just didn't want flash photography so they requested no photography at all.
I think you’re right although taking phone photos even without the flash cam be distracting to the audience and the people on stage.

Flash,.... flash, flash,...
........flash.... flash.......
Distracting and annoying - not everyone turns their flash off.
Or it might be a matter of copyright.
click...click...click...whirrrr(film advance motor)...click
Not so much these days with cell phones and mirrorless, but the it takes time for managers to decommission old rules.

Many don't know how to turn off the flash on their phones (or cameras).

Wow! So, at age 70, what other rules have you earned the right to spurn? I'm a 77-year-old grandfather. Please tell me what others' rules and laws I've earned the rights to ignore?
I stand by my posts on this thread.

You see things differently—fine. You sound angry.
With advanced age, I am simply not as rigid as I used to be—especially about the small, inconsequential stuff that really are not damaging. Pick your battles.
I still get angry at arrogant people that park in loading zones, infringing upon the rights of others, only for the sake of convenience—and similar situations. In this case, the OP was not dismissing a rule for his convenience, but rather to catch a treasured moment forever. Is there a difference? Maybe not, but I think so.
Again, you disagree. I cannot tell you when and why rules should be dismissed. As I have indicated, that is a matter of one’s values and personal integrity, and each situation can be different.
Happy Easter.
