As the father of a daughter who majored in theatre in college and acted during her college years, I can tell you that even without flash, photographing distracts and thus disrespects the actors. Many times, the production team will arrange for photography during dress rehearsals — for the production’s “official” photographer especially. But with the right request, cast members’ friends and relatives can participate. That’s the proper and respectful way to do it.

So perfect a response.
No photos means everyone.

( Please do not use photography with cameras or iPhones during the play!( the stage manager was very firm on microphone before the high school play began. My grandson had a part of the play and while I felt guilty I pulled my iPhone and took the picture. I know the guilt is going away but the photo is going to be with me for ever.

Some of you have been able to understand the idea of a grandfather’s lasting memory of see his grandson on stage it was not enough to for the future, he had to take a picture with an iPhone 11, no flash was used and the iPhone was between two heads seating ahead of him. Yes it was wrong but no crime was committed.

Ethics.
Sadly lacking.
In other words pathetic.
There are rules in society that apply to all. Not because you are some privileged geezer.

You reek of entitlement and privilege. And f**king arrogance. And disrespect and regard for others. As I poiinted out before, you could have accomplished saving a memory by thinking beyond your selfish self.

I didn’t think my post will bring so much animosity and fouling mouths. I have been in this photo discussion forum for years trying to communicate with symbolized people but I have never thought some people will take such of ugly stand. I have no need to continue.

Your narcissistic arrogance putting yourself above the rules for selfish self gratification shows your character and what you obviously have passed on to the grandchildren. Showing rules are not for you and yours but only for others who are lesser than you.

Things are ugly if they don't fit one's narrative.

Like stop and speed limit signs is only a suggestions.

Narcissist is a person with personality disorder, between this word you use and some other stupid blunders applying to a person you don’t know, look in a dictionary to understand of what the hell you are talking about.

Go back to your cave.
I am correct and you are just evil and support self centered indulgences contrary to the rules.
"Generally speaking, a narcissist will have an exaggerated sense of self-importance."
In other words the rules do not apply to them.
But your hatred for me shows and you are wrong as usual.
Go back to the attic where you belong.

That's a bit harsh. Those of us with multiple children and grandchildren must capture many of what is often a once in a lifetime event. If it's done without flash, I don't see any harm.

The last sentence should read: No crime was committed but yes it was wrong.
