I’ve seen 2 posts that seem to believe my Grand Canyon post was indicating you shouldn’t shoot it because it has been shot so many times. I said “yes”, you WOULD shoot it. It was an argument to REFUTE the claim you shouldn’t shoot the Last Supper because it had already been shot. It is very discouraging when people “take” the opposite of your meaning. That actually is the major problem with “media”.

Agreed! This is why I've never done Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. UHH is the only social forum I have ever participated in. I've only recently joined because of my lifetime love of photography. However, I'm seriously re-thinking the decision. Too many don't know how to express their thoughts and opinions without insulting others. Sorry everyone, I just had to vent!

I do like one members signature line that reads..."I'm only responsible for what I say not for what you understand".

I wish I had added this: I LOVE my photo of the Last Supper. When I look at it, it’s like I’m standing in that room in Italy. I don’t care how many pictures there are of it. This one is mine. It transports me to a place that I want to return. And I will, and will most likely take another picture. Then I will have Last Supper #1 and Last Supper #2 - and will be twice as happy.

I lived in Italy for 3 years but that was back in the 80's, SLR days (50 mm 1.4 Canon lens specifically for museum shots). Back then most lighting was fluorescent. These days I have a difficult time telling as it's such a mix. If it's important, I'll use my FZ1000's scene mode for handheld night shot, or my Nikon P7800 has a museum mode (both automatically take a number of shots and pick the best one). Trouble is, limits you to jpg. So I also take an AV shot for RAW and adjust color PP. Still amazed at what stabilization can do.

For crowds, I REALLY appreciate a fully articulated screen allowing me to hold camera over my head and grab a shot.

For ME, taking photos in a museum helps me "see" the object.

Off subject: a lot of tourists think pasta is the main course. It's just the first, you're expected to order a second, meat or fish. My favorite meal would be:
Antipasta: prosciutto and melone(cantaloupe)
Primo: Pasta, e.g. Spaghetti alle vongole or risotto alla pescatora
Second: pesche spada (swordfish) or piccata (veal)
Dolce (dessert): tartufo nero: golf sized ball of vanilla ice cream surrounded by a hemisphere of chocolate ice cream, all in a dark chocolate shell with cocoa powder and small nuts on top
Finally, sambuca con mosca (with "flies", a couple of coffee beans in the glass, drink then set on fire).

Meals are an adventure in themselves and the table is yours until you finish (you're not rushed out). For the bill, "il conto per favore".

I was just there today. I didn't find this thread until getting back on the cruise ship.
Unfortunately, the room is not well lit and there is a brighter lit area in the center of the painting. That causes the area away from the center (Jesus) to show up darker. I tried a bunch of combinations of ISO and F-values but I can't tell much difference in the pictures. It will need some processing to make it look reasonable.
