What if her placard supported Planned Parenthood with the image of an aborted baby or a white supremecist with a Zeig Heil Nazi? I think many would find it difficult to bypass the message and discuss the technical merits of the image.

Even in the darkest of hours, it is good to see a positive face.

To those who complain that she is not showing the "expected" angry face, I will say that they, themselves, present the ugly face in the message. She is happy that she is involved in the movement that is very serious. She is giving us all the hope for the future.

The shot is not posed as were some of "the social-ills of the times" photos of the early 1900s.

There is the sad truth that she could have been injured for just holding the placard.

The phrase, "More power to you, girl" comes to mind. You have captured an honest moment.

Well, I for one was not "complaining" but I did post my honest initial reaction to the photo which is what we do here. Some have put it a little harshly but I just think that the smile belies the seriousness of the issue.

I like your photo. I think it portrays the young person's enthusiasm and commitment.

I chuckle sometime about our concern about noise in digital images particularly when I look back at old film images that are quite grainy sometimes.

A form of street photography. Just wondering why she asked a complete stranger to take her photo unless she thought you were a news photographer and have it published. It is a good shoot of a young black girl making a statement

I like the photo, street photography. My thoughts are I would crop the light distraction on the left side of your photo. I think you captured a moment in time very well.

In 1985 I was in New Orleans on business, I was shown around by the white manager and introduced to several of the staff while walking through the warehouse area I saw black person who we were about to pass by without and introduction I slowed down and asked who is he the answer was oh he just the cleaner, I stopped and walked over the black person and offered my hand saying hello gave my name and told him I was from England. He tool my hand without a word and a look of bewilderment on his face. I got back to the person showing me around the place and saw the look on his face I had a feeling his attitude towards me change in that moment,
I thought afterwards when on my own that I was probably the first white person who had ever offered a friendly hand shake to man. It was then that a released the real meaning of racism.
It had a profound effect on me to this day and I hope a good effect on the black person I shook hands with.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with the message, this is a photo showing American freedom in action. This young woman has the right to express her view regardless of whether I like it or not, or whether the next person likes it or not. Unfortunately, in today's political environment that freedom is not always afforded to all citizens, especially those expressing views more to the right on the political spectrum. Would that all could accept the basic ideas of our founders, those being that we all may live our lives as we see fit without hatred or interference from others so long as we do it in a manner allowing others to do the same.

But it doesn’t. The picture is what is. “What ifs” don’t apply.

I think that you should take a closer look at what you are suggesting.

Sometimes it is a good idea to leave predilections at the door, enter and view with an open mind.

Just like you, I state my piece.

And I am not immune to making assumptions either. I have learned a long time ago to try to get as much of the whole picture before making demands of any kind. (It helped me in keeping me whole.)

I'm all for stopping bigotry and the violence it brings. I grew up in it. I learned while in the military that you must trust your fellow sailor, soldier, airman to survive. As I said to a negro friend of mine who is 92 years old: Quote-"There's bad in every race who are determined to keep us from loving each other. "ALL LIVES MATTER"!

It’s interesting that you used the word “negro”. I haven’t seen or heard the word in a long time.
