Don't know but I bet you know that MILAN is in Italy.
If you have a good 50. Mm lens you may pick up a lot of extra light . F2.8 should help. Practice at home first and exam the image
Also in Michigan & Indiana. Just pulling your leg. Have a great time & shoot lots!

I strongly disagree. I don't think explaining to you why he decided to take a photo will make him a better photographer but it may make you a better photographer.
I think the give and take of the discussion would be good. My asking questions would help me improve, certainly. In the instances where I have taught people photography (very basic stuff) I learned more than them. But it would help him as well. The road to excellence is paved with critical self evaluation. In my prior professional life it was a way of life. Of course there was a lot more at stake. If you want to see a fun YouTube video take a look at the Blue Angels debrief sessions. I’m my little tactical world we tried to emulate that. I am the admin for the photo critique section on UHH. You will notice that I often end with my own self critique. I THINK it’s helping me improve.
I know that in my photo club, when the evaluating professional asks a question or makes a comment on one of my photos, one I had not thought of, it forces me to remember for the next time. And I improve.
In this case the OP is asking very basic questions that indicates he may be at a novice level. Exposure settings for a museum in Italy (I’ve been there and can’t remember the lighting.). The question of why he wants to shoot the shot in the first place might help him formulate a plan, intended use, etc. I offered up an idea to include visitors in the shot.
Often people ask the wrong questions as well. He’s asking what exposures to use. A few seasoned travelers asked why he wants to shoot it. I get it. I have some shots like that. Most taken off the kids whilst standing in from of a Monet or similar. I have a crappy shot of the mermaid in Denmark. A great memory, but not wall hanging material. In fact when I am in that mode I do put the camera on auto to just take the memory shot so I can enjoy the day.
So, to each his own.
Thank you for discussion. Happy shooting and best regards.
Thanks for your thoughts and opinions. Most importantly is your final summary..."to each his own".
Actually, the question should be, why do we call it Milan, when it is actually Milano. And Rome is Roma, and Venice is Venezia? Why do English speaking people change the names of places that don’t belong to them? Guess we will never know. The people in Italy weren’t able to answer that question for me.

Lake Como is just up the road from there and well worth the time.
Enjoy your trip, David

I never really thought about this until you brought it up. Why do we say Italy instead of Italia? Maybe because they call the US, the Stati Uniti. People from Spain (Espana) call the US the Estados Unidos or we say Japan instead of Nippon or Nihon. Poland-Polska. Україна and it’s pronounced oo-crah-EE-nah instead of Ukraine. Oddly, we still say Cabo San Lucas in Mexico rather than Cape Saint Luke. Kenya is the Swahili name for Kenya! When I speak to Spanish speaking people at least we agree on Los Angeles!
I do think that when we are in a country, we should try to use the native country's terms. I try to speak a little of the local language and have NEVER has anyone insulted me or been insulted. People find it welcome and always try to help me. Now I am really confused. So I am going to the beach at Saint Monica's...(Santa Monica!).
Slancha (cheers in Irish)
I also have had very disappointing results shooting painting. Not only the color and distortion, but often (usually?) I get reflected light on the painting. Additionally, you also need to be aware of getting in other people's way and of them getting in you way. Frankly, its stressful. The Palace of Versailles was AWFUL.

Hey, they do it to American cities.
