My Samsung Note8 is finally giving up the ghost. The charging connector doesn't work (yes, I've cleaned it) and the battery life is getting intolerable.
I quit Apple when they refused to repair my iPhone6 Plus that developed iPhone touch disease (a bad batch of system boards) because I had the battery replaced at uBreakIFix. I swore I'd never go back, but because my whole family carries iPhones I'm left out of sharing family stuff easily.
I want the best camera possible for photos and video and I'm trying to decide between the iPhone 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Any opinions?

I still use a flip phone. I have no use or need to be "connected" aside from voice when I am away from home.

Stick with what your family uses. The iPhone 13 Pro is a fine machine. Even the new iPhone SE just released is great. Both have the same processor. The 13 Pro has better cameras, though.
I just got my first smart phone. It is a Motorola One 5G Ace. It has a 48MP quad camera. My main requirement was the camera because I use a phone so rarely. I'm very pleased with it. The only drawback, which I am overcoming slowly, is learning the different operating system than on my Windows computer.

The biggest advantage of the Apple ecosystem is that you have essentially the same operating system running on the Mac, the iPhone, the iPad, the Watch, and the Apple TV. If you know one, you know them all, or can figure them out in minutes.

Unless you like spending money, get a name brand phone from TracFone and join their plan. We've gotten phones for under $50 - Samsung and Motorola. The cost of using them is ridiculously low. We were paying Verizon $165 a month several years ago. Now I pay about that much for a year's use with TracFone.
I used tracfone for over 10 years and renewed the contract every 2 years, but with verizon changing the plans I discontinued. The plan ended last week, and I still had over 2000 minutes left.
I got the iphone 13 Pro when it came out, and I absolutely love it. Been with apple since the iphone 3 (I think), and never had a problem that couldn't happen to any other phone.
while I have not personally tested the cameras on any other phone, I am quite pleased with how good the 13 pro is. They introduced a macro feature, and its pretty great. So is the low-light functionality. I took my wife's 11 pro and my 13 pro outside one night to shoot into the sky just to see the difference, and it was incredible how much more detail was produced on my phone.
You really can't go wrong, the phones are all so comparable, that you just need to be happy. Sharing is great, but they can still email or message you any photos. :-)

Not what I found in our immediate area, where we use voice & text the most.
I am not a heavy phone user, just the basics: test family, make a few calls, and take a picture when I'm out without my camera. I recently purchased a Motorola One 5G Ace, which has me covered for the changeover to 5G. I am surprised by the quality of the pictures this little thing takes. And the price is right at least for me. Check it out. . .

Why can you not share stuff if you go Android?
I'd like to Facetime with the grandchildren. I have to use my wife's phone for that...

Apple iPhone 13 Pro has one of the best cameras for a phone camera on the market. Pricey but worth it. I wouldn’t settle for less. If you have one problem with Apple you simply give up? That’s pure foolishness. I’ve had more issues with the carriers than I have the actual phone.

I got a reconditioned LG phone for 10 bucks from TracFone. I was forced to because they dropped the 2G or 3G, what ever. I didn't want a smart phone but for 10 bucks it was worth a try.
I don't understand this love affair with expensive phones. One fumble finger moment and you are out hundreds of dollars.
Cameras now a different story!
